Without warning, the island suddenly appeared in the sky.

Four foul and wicked beings claimed it for themselves.

They possesed the frightening powers of Choas, Destruction, Terror and Death.

The people were horrified. They called the evil ones "Sinistrals"

The reign of Terror continued.

The world massed its warriors to battle their dark foes.

But the Sinistrals were all powerful.

In desperation, the people called on their bravest Fighters: Artea, Guy,
Maxim, and Selan.

And so began the final battle...

<Darkness.>

Selan: It's so dark.
Artea: I feel the energy.
Guy: A very dark energy. Beware! It's powerful.
Maxim: Selan. Light Magic.
Selan: As you wish.

<Selan casts the light spell, the Fortress of Doom illuminates before
our heroes.>

Maxim: Is this the Forterss of Doom?
Selan: So cold! It freezes straight to the heart.

<A voice speaks from nowhere>

Voice: Welcome, Maxim.
Maxim: Daos? It's you, isn't it? Show yourself!

<The heroes look in all directions, in an attempt to spot Daos.>

Daos: Approach. My chamber is above. I await you.

<The heroes form a group and begin walking through The Fortress of Doom.>

<The heroes approach a crystal bridge, which spans a void.
Daos speaks from above.>

Daos: You may cross.
Selan: Maxim. It could be a trap.

<Maxim turns towards Selan>

Maxim: He said cross. Let's go.
Selan: But....
Maxim: Daos is testing us. He senses our feelings. Don't show any fear!
Guy: You're right. That's what he's doing.

<Guy confidentaly crosses the bridge>

Artea: My power is strong. The hopes of my people energize me.

<Artea also crosses the bridge>

Maxim: Come on, Selan. We're the world's last and only chance!
Selan: I know.
Maxim: There's still hope as long as Dual Blade keeps its light.
Selan: Dual Blade boosts our powers. It makes us even stronger in the
center of this darkness.
Maxim: We will destroy the Sinistrals and restore peace to the world. This
we promise.
Selan: We promise. Together!

<Both Selan and Maxim cross the bridge together. Daos still speaks from
above.>

Daos: Ha, ha, ha! I sense your hope. Indeed, it is powerful.
Selan: Sinistrals! Your reign of tyranny is over! Do you hear me? We will
finish you once and for all!
Daos: The woman's energy flows strangely. Is this human love? Such a thing
is unknown to us. No matter. It is easily smashed.

<The party regroups and enters a teleporter. Comming out of the teleporter,
across the bridge, and finally up a small flight of stairs to a platform,
the heroes confront all four Sinistrals.>

Daos: Maxim! At last we meet. I sense your strength. A worthy opponent.
Maxim: Daos! With Dual Blade I return the pain you gave to my people!
Gades: Hold, Maxim! You shall fight me first!

<The heroes engage Gades in a battle, and emerge victorious.>

Amon: You will go no further!

<A fight with Amon ensues, but the heroes win once again.>

Erim: Maxim, is it? Come! Come and join your fallen friends!

<The party fights Erim, but not suprisingly, are victorious one again.>

Daos: Magnificent! A true fighter. 'Tis truly a pity I must destroy you.

<The final battle with Daos takes place, and our heroes win. After the
fight, the other three Sinistrals are behind Daos.>

Maxim: Daos. This is the end.
Daos: Indeed. This shall be the end......OF EVERYTHING!

<The Sinistrals quickly surround our heroes, and begin to focus their energy.>

Artea: The Sinistrals are gathering their energy into one flow! They're
merging!
Guy: They want to destroy us!
Artea: Not only us. If that flow erupts, the world will cease to exist!
Guy: What?
Maxim: I won't let that happen!

<Maxim attempts to smash ethe energy flow by himself, but is repeled
back by a strong force.>

Maxim: I can't do it alone. Artea. Guy. Selan. Join me. Merge your flows
with mine!
Selan: Maxim! It's too dangerous!
Maxim: Quickly. We don't have time. Do it......NOW!

<The heroes merge their energy into one flow, and it begins to conflict
with the Sinistrals' flow.>

Daos: Ha, ha, ha! Fools! Our dark powers are vast. Your feeble efforts
are no match against us!
Maxim: Give it all you've got!
Artea: Maxim! Selan can't take much more of this!
Selan: I'm......I'm fine. Everyone! Concentrate!

<The energies increase, grow stronger, and faster.>

Daos: AAARGH! You filthy pests!

Maxim: Ready!

<The energies are much more stronger than before.>

<In a brilliant flash of light, the energies explode, and the heroes are
thrown all accross the room. The Sinistrals are not visible anywhere.>

Maxim: We did it.

<Maxim runs over to where Guy was thrown>

Maxim: Guy? Are you alright?
Guy: They'd have to do more than that to stop me!

<Both Guy and Maxim run over to where Artea was thrown, who has recovered
himself, and is now standing>

Maxim: Artea!
Artea: I'm fine.

<The three run over to where Selan is laying, after being thrown there from
the blast, across the crystal bridge. Artea and Guy are still on the bridge>

Maxim: Selan!
Selan: We....finally did it, Maxim.
Maxim: Selan? What's the matter?
Selan: We finally restored peace to the world.
Maxim: Yes. We did. Let's go home.
Selan: No. I'm not going home.
Maxim: Selan! What are you saying?
Selan: The eruption went through me. I can't....even....speak....
Maxim: No! Selan! Selan!
Selan: I....wish I could....stand on our....land with you once again.
And hold....my......child......

<The Fortress begins to shake violently, and the crystal bridge quickly
crumbles, forcing Guy and Artea to retreat to the other side.>

Guy: The fortress is breaking up! Artea. The warp magic!
Artea: Maxim and Selan are too far. I can't take them with us!
Guy: Can't we do anything?
Maxim: Artea! Guy! Don't worry about us. Save yourselves!
Artea: Maxim?
Maxim: The Sinistrals are defeated. You must tell the people.
Artea: But....!
Maxim: I can't leave her here alone! Please understand.
Artea: ........
Guy: Let's go, Artea!
Artea: Guy! You can't mean...
Guy: Maxim said we should go. He's right. It's the only way.
Artea: ........
Guy: Artea!
Artea: Maxim. The world will know. I promise you. Goodbye, my friend......

<Artea casts the warp spell. Guy and Artea are warped out of the crumbling
fortress. Maxim turns away from where Guy and Artea once stood, and looks
at the unconcious Selan.>

Maxim: Selan. Peace will come. I wish we had been born in such a world.
Selan. I love you. I'll always love you.

Thus the battle ended.

The island plummeted into the depths of the sea.

The Sinistrals vanished and never returned.

In time, it came to be remembered as "The Battle of Doom Island".

LUFIA & THE FORTRESS OF DOOM

90 years had passed since the great conflict.

Once again, peace settled over the kingdoms.

Life was good, and troubles were few.

"The Battle of Doom Island" soon faded from memory.

The people lived and worked in harmony once more.

That's when the trouble started....

<We open looking into an Inn. An old man gets up from his chair behind a
counter, looks out a window for a few moments, then sits back down at his
place behind the counter.>

Old Man: Another lazy day.

<A young red-headed child quickly enters the Inn>

Child: Hello, Roman.
Roman: Oh, Cyan. Come for a visit, have you?
Cyan: Yes.
Roman: My, you're a mess today! Went adventuring again, did you?
Cyan: I went to the caves today!
Roman: I wouldn't push my luck if I were you. But, then again, I haven't
seen any monsters lately.
Cyan: That's ok. I'm not afraid of any monster!

<A blue-haired girl slowly walks into the Inn from outside>

Roman: Hello, young lady. Are you all alone?
Girl: ........
Roman: You're new around here. What's your name?
Girl: ........
Roman: Are you lost? Is everything alright?

<Cyan walks over beside the girl>

Cyan: My name's Cyan. What's yours?
Girl: Lufia. My name is Lufia.
Cyan: That's a nice name. Hey, Lufia! Where are your parents?
Lufia: ........
Cyan: Where do you live?
Lufia: Let's play.
Cyan: Huh?
Lufia: Let's go outside and play!
Cyan: Ok. What do you want to do?
Lufia: Tag! I'll run and Cyan, you come after me.
Cyan: Alright. I'll count to three. Ready? One, two....
Lufia: Whee! Ha, ha, ha!

<Lufia quickly runs out of the Inn>

Cyan: Three! Ready or not! Here I come!

<Cyan quickly runs out of the Inn, in search of Lufia. Roman gets up from
his seat, and looks out the window.>

Roman: Seems like a nice girl. I wonder who she is?

--- Nine years later.... ---

<We see Cyan, much older now, enter a building with two more people in it>

Cyan: Time for afternoon training.

<One of the people turns towards Cyan>

Person 1: Nobody's coming today, anyway. Just another day off.

<The second person gets off his seat and approaches Cyan>

Person 2: Hey! I have an idea! Jack said he was going to chase Yuria around
the castle again. Let's go watch!
Person 1: This I have to see!

<The people quickly exit the building, leaving Cyan by himself>

Cyan: I don't believe this.

<Cyan exits the building, and heads south, accross a bridge, where he is
stopped by another person>

Person: Lighten up Cyan! They're just having some fun. And that's what
peace is all about, right?
Cyan: And what would you do if the monsters suddenly attacked?
Person: Monsters? Get real! There haven't been any monsters around here
for 100 years!

<Cyan walks away from the person, and to the southwest, accross another
bridge to where Lufia, much older now, is standing in a rather large
patch of flowers>

Cyan: Lufia....

<Lufia looks at Cyan and comes rushing over to him>

Lufia: Why, Cyan. Aren't you new guys supposed to be training today?
Cyan: How'd you know that? Then, you also know why I'm here.
Lufia: Skipping out again, I imagine. The commander won't like it if you
don't practice!
Cyan: I'm not skipping out! No one came, so drill was cancelled.
Lufia: Oh, I see.
Cyan: How about you, Lufia? What are you doing?
Lufia: I found some Priphea buds over here. Take a look.

<Lufia rushes back into the flower patch, with Cyan slowly walking behind her>

Lufia: Here.
Cyan: Which ones?

<Cyan looks around trying to find the Priphea buds, but fails>

Cyan: Where are they?
Lufia: They're all over the place. Look closer.

<Lufia runs all around the flower patch, as if to demonstrate how many
there are>

Lufia: Priphea almost never bloom. But they're so pretty when they do.
Cyan: Always the flower lover.
Lufia: I guess you're right. I remember making wreaths for you, Cyan, when
we were children.
Cyan: Mmm. You made me dizzy with so many flowers.
Lufia: Yes. Those were happy times, weren't they?

<Cyan turns around, and takes a few steps to the south>

Cyan: Tell me, Lufia. What do you think about life the way it is today?

<Lufia walks up beside Cyan>

Lufia: It's good, I think. We have peace and....well, you're here.
Cyan: I wonder how long this peace will last. Life used to be so hard
100 years ago.
Lufia: Are you thinking about the past again?
Cyan: What would we do if the Sinistrals returned? Maxim is dead.
Who would defend us?

<Lufia walk up in front of Cyan>

Lufia: You're a knight of Alekia, aren't you? Doesn't Maxim's
blood run in your veins? Won't that be enough?
Cyan: ........
Lufia: We should be getting home soon. I'll make you some cinnamon tea.
I haven't made it for a while.
Cyan: Cinnamon tea. One of your recipes that actually tastes good.
Lufia: Oh, you! I'll have you know that it's very popular with our guests.

<Lufia walks a bit over to the east>

Cyan: Hmm. That's odd. Aren't you using......

<Lufia turns around, once again facing Cyan>

Lufia: What?
Cyan: You know. Herbs that change the taste of things? The stuff people
say is made by the Lyden Wizard?

<Lufia turns away from Cyan>

Lufia: Well, I never! If that's what you think, then I'll never let you
drink it.

<Lufia begins to walk away from Cyan, as he calls from the distance>

Cyan: Come on, Lufia. I'm just kidding, ok?

<Cyan walks up near Lufia, the flower patch is behind them now>

Cyan: Don't be angry. Come on. Let's have that cinnamon tea. And how
about some of your cinnamon pie?
Lufia: ........
Cyan: Your cinnamon pie is the best in the whole world.

<Lufia turns around to once again face Cyan>

Lufia: You have some nerve! Well, if you're going to be that nice,
I'll have to make a cinnamon pie, won't I?

<Both Lufia and Cyan walk back home to the Inn, where Roman is sitting
behind his counter>

Lufia: Roman? I'm going o use the oven now.
Roman: Wll, what's got into you? Going to bake something, are we?
Lufia: Cinnamon pie. Lots of cinnamon pie. You're going to love it!

<Lufia walks off to the kitchen, where she busies herself making pie and tea>

Roman: Lufia is in a good mood. What happened?
Cyan: Nothing. I just said that her cinnamon pie was the best in the world.
That's all.
Roman: I see. I see. Well, she hardly ever bakes for me when I ask her,
you know.
Cyan: What? Lufia owes you so much. You'd think the least she could do
for you is bake a pie!
Roman: Oh, I don't do that much. I'm just an innkeeper.
Cyan: I remember nine years ago.

<Roman looks away, as if remembering something>

Roman: Has it been nine years already?

<The scene switches over to where two inn patrons are sitting at a table>

Patron 1: Have you heard? People say that monsters attacked the Kingdom of
Sheran.
Patron 2: I don't know about that. If it were true, why don't the knights
look into it? That's what they're for, right?
Patron 1: The kingdom of Sheran won't let the Alekian knights enter.
Besides, they're all too lazy. No one will go and see.
Patron 2: Isn't that the truth!

<After overhearing this discussion, Cyan rushes out of the Inn. Lufia comes
out of the kitchen shortly after.>

Lufia: Cyan. Go ahead and have some tea. The pie will be ready soon.

<Lufia looks around the Inn, both inside and out, for Cyan, but fails to
see him anywhere>

Lufia: Cyan? Where are you?
Patron 1: You mean the youg man? He just left.
Lufia: Really? Whatever is he thinking? That Cyan! I'll never forgive him!

<Lufia runs out of the Inn. The scene switches over to where Cyan is,
thinking to himself.>

Cyan: Monsters in Sheran? It can't be true!

<Cyan decides to consult the commander about the current situation, in the
castle.>

Commander: What?! Monsters attacked the Kingdom of Sheran? I've heard
nothing about this!
Cyan: It may be a rumor, but we should be cautious. Commander, form a
detail and check it out.
Commander: It isn't that easy. We can't just send our knights off on a
rumor. I won't send anyone until a scout goes to Sheran.

<Somewhat frusterated, Cyan decides to talk to the king about it.>

King: What? The rumor about monsters in Sheran? I can't send anyone
until you've checked it.

<Totally giving up, Cyan departs to investigate Sheran for himself. After
stopping in Chatam for a brief rest, he fights his way through the north
caves, and eventually makes it to Sheran. Sheran is in ruins! People are
unconscious or stunned speachless everywhere, and the castle is totally
deserted. Cyan quickly decides to head back to Alekia to report this grave
news to his commander.>

Commander: What? Monsters actually attacked Sheran? I'll send a detail
immediately!
Cyan: Good. When will they leave?
Commander: First, we'll hold a meeting. They'll leave when everyone agrees
to go.
Cyan: So, when will they go?
Commander: Let's see. The chairman's in Lorbenia. I think he returns
next week.
Cyan: You mean, they won't leave until next week?
Commander: Well, the chairman returns next week. And then, we'll hold a
meeting to choose the members of the detail.
Cyan: I've heard enough! Excuse me!

<Disgusted with the red tape, Cyan leaves back towards the Inn, wondering
where Lufia could be>

Roman: What? Monsters in Sheran you say? Come to think of it, we haven't
had any guests from Sheran lately.
Cyan: By the way, Roman. Has Lufia returned?
Roman: She's back, but she shut herself in upstairs. Still angry, I suppose.
You should say something.

<Cyan takes Roman's advice, and heads upstairs to where Lufia is>

Lufia: How could you do that to me? I'll never forgive you! Never!
Cyan: Please listen. I'm sorry I left like that. But, there's trouble in
Sheran right now. I had to go there.
Lufia: You could at least have stayed for some pie.
Cyan: You can always make cinnamon pie!
Lufia: So, Sheran is more important than my pie. Is that what you're saying?
Cyan: That's ridiculous! You can't possibly compare the two.
Lufia: Why, you....! I understand. Go away! Leave me alone!

<Lufia turns away from Cyan, and when he tries to talk to her, he is rudely
turned down with a...>

Lufia: Go away!

<Giving up, Cyan goes back down to the main floor of the Inn, and before
exiting...>

Roman: Hey, Cyan.

<Cyan turns around to listen>

Roman: You know, Cyan. Lufia isn't really angry because you didn't eat the pie.
Cyan: I know.
Roman: It's because you went off into dangerous territory alone.
Cyan: I know. I know. But do you think she would listen to me?
Roman: Sometimes you're so funny. There's no need for you to go running off
to such dangerous places.
Cyan: Hmmm. I don't even understand it myself.
Roman: Must be that Maxim blood in you.
Cyan: Would you take Lufia some hot milk later on? And please tell her the
Priphea are in bloom.
Roman: Priphea?
Cyan: Flowers. She was waiting for them to bloom.
Roman: Don't push yourself so much. Come back here if you get hurt.
We're always open.

<Taking Roman's advice, Cyan departs north for Sheran, however just
after getting beyond the Alekia town limits...>

Lufia: Cyan! Wait!

<Lufia comes rushing over to Cyan, and he turns around to face her>

Cyan: What's wrong, Lufia?
Lufia: You're going somewhere dangerous again, aren't you?
Cyan: Yes.
Lufia: Even if I tell you not to go, I know you'll leave anyway.
Cyan: You know everything, don't you? You're right. I'm going. I have to go.
Lufia: I won't stop you. Take me with you.

<Cyan looks away from Lufia>

Cyan: I can't.
Lufia: I thought you'd say that, but I still want to go with you.
Cyan: No!
Lufia: Please....I

<Cyan turns around, looking back at Lufia>

Cyan: No way!

<Lufia turns her back on Cyan>

Lufia: Cyan is so stubborn! Fine. Even if he says no, I'm still going with him.

<Lufia looks back at him>

Lufia: I won't take no for an answer. I'm still mad at you about the pie!
Cyan: Still angry about that? I don't care. You want to come? Fine. Do as
you like. Don't blame me if something happens.
Lufia: That's alright with me. I don't need your help. I can take care
of myself just fine.
Cyan: A brave thing to say. Ha! Suit yourself!

<Cyan walks away, to the north, with Lufia slowly following>

Lufia: You don't like me, do you?
Cyan: ............

<Lufia looks to the south, away from Cyan>

Lufia: I'm selfesh and I have a short temper. No wonder you're tired of me.

<Cyan looks south towards Lufia>

Cyan: If that's all it takes, then I was tired of you long ago.

<Lufia looks north back to where Cyan is>

Lufia: ....Cyan.

<Cyan walks to where Lufia is>

Cyan: Lufia, dangers lie ahead. I can protect myself, but I
don't know if I can protect you. Please understand.

<Lufia looks away from Cyan once again>

Lufia: Well, I don't.
Cyan: Why don't you listen?

<Lufia turns around, looking back at Cyan>

Lufia: Whatever the danger ahead, I'm not afraid.
Cyan: What are you saying, Lufia? I....
Lufia: You'll learn how, I'm sure. No matter what happens, you'll protect me,
won't you?

<Cyan slowly turns away from Lufia>

Cyan: Well....yes.

<Lufia walks in front of Cyan>

Lufia: Please. Let me go with you. I promise I'll do my best!
Cyan: ........
Lufia: ........?
Cyan: You might die.
Lufia: I won't die.
Cyan: How can you say that?
Lufia: Just because. If you're with me, I just won't die.
Cyan: You always want it your own way, don't you?
Lufia: You figured that out just now?
Cyan: I knew it all along. Ha, ha, ha, ha!
Lufia: Why are you laughing like that, Cyan?
Cyan: Because I thought it would end up like this!
Lufia: Me, too.
Cyan: Lufia....
Lufia: Promise me Cyan, that you'll never leave me.
Cyan: I promise.
Lufia: That's all I wanted to hear.
Cyan: Let's go, Lufia. We must get to Sheran.
Lufia: Alright.

<And on that note, Lufia and Cyan head north, towards the small village of
Chatam. While there, they talk to a woman who seems worried about someone.>

Woman: Danil left for the Northwest Cave and hasn't returned. I'm so worried!

<Departing Chatam, the small party heads north, to the cave where they
encounter a man, who seems to be somewhat wounded.>

Cyan: Are you alright? Pull yourself together!

<The man slowly gets on his feet>

Man: I'm fine. Are you a knight? My sister Lilah is in Sheran Castle.
Cyan: Sister?
Man: I came here because I was worried. Monsters attacked me. Please take
me to Sheran.
Cyan: Listen. You can trust me. Go back to the village. There's danger ahead.
Man: I understand. Please help Lilah.
Lufia: I'm sure she's fine.
Man: Thanks. Take this key. Lilah used it at the castle.

<Cyan gets the key to Sheran Castle>

Man: I'll be fine. Please hurry to Sheran.

<Cyan and Lufia exit the cave, and enter Sheran, which is still in ruins.
Entering the castle, and using the key given to him by the man in the cave,
Cyan lowers the switch, which opens a pathway that was blocking the way to
the basement. Searching the basement, Cyan and Lufia find a jail cell full
of people>

Woman: Who's there?
Cyan: Cyan, knight from the Kingdom of Alekia. I've come to help.
Woman: Knight of Alekia? Great! Are you here to rescue the King?

<The King of Sheran approaches the bars>

King: What? Only two? What are knights of Alekia doing in our country?
Woman: Sire! These are dangerous times! You should be grateful.
King: I know.
Lufia: Cyan. It's amazing that someone would scold a king!
Cyan: Probably very important. Excuse me. Is Lilah here?
Woman: I'm Lilah.
Cyan: You're Lilah? Your brother asked us to find you.
Lilah: My brother, Danil?
Cyan: He's been worried about you. Let's get out of here. I'll take you to
Alekia.
Lilah: I understand. Thank you.

<The bars raise, and the group begins to make it's way out of the castle, but
not before an evil-looking man teleports in front of the group, accompanied
by several monster guards.>

Man: Who dared to enter my domain?
Lilah: It's him! He's the one who destroyed everything!
Man: Ah! An Alekian knight! Yet, you seem different from the others...
Cyan: ...Lufia! Take everyone and leave. You're in great danger!
Lufia: But! But, Cyan!
Cyan: Go! Go and get the knights. Quickly! Something evil is at work here!

<Lufia and the others hastily leave Sheran, leaving Cyan and the man alone,
with his monster bodyguards>

Cyan: Why? Why did you destroy so many?
Man: I need no reason! My mission is destruction. No more, no less.
Cyan: Destruction? Do you think you can get away with such an evil deed?
Man: Puny knight! I AM EVIL!
Cyan: E....Evil!?
Man: I am Gades! Sinistral of Destruction!!

<Gades engages Cyan in a one on one fight, however Cyan loses, badly.
Before Gades has a chance to finish the job, Lufia rushes into the scene>

Gades: You. Woman. You!
Lufia: What? Stay away from me! I won't let you take Cyan!
Gades: ............
Lufia: Go away! Leave us alone!!
Gades: So be it! Farewell, woman. Until the next time!

<Gades and his fiends teleport out>

Lufia: Are you alright, Cyan?
Cyan: Don't worry about me. I'm fine, but what about the king and the others?
Lufia: Everyone arrived in Alekia. They're safe inside the castle walls.
Cyan: What about the knights? Where are they?
Lufia: They couldn't leave right away. So, I returned alone. I was so worried
about you, Cyan.
Cyan: Thanks! I wouldn't have made it without you!
Lufia: Who was that anyway?
Cyan: I couldn't believe my ears, but he called himself Gades.
Lufia: Gades? The Sinistral Gades? I thought he died at Doom Island!
Cyan: That's right. He was supposed to have been defeated.
Lufia: That means....
Cyan: We don't know that. If it was Gades, what about the other three:
Amon, Daos and Erim?
Lufia: I don't want to know! Let's return to Alekia.
Cyan: You're right. Let's return Lilah to Chatam village.

<Cyan and Lufia depart the ruins of what was once Sheran, and head back to
Alekia>

Roman: Cyan.
Cyan: Roman.
Roman: You're alright, Cyan. I heard from Lilah and I was worried.
Cyan: I'm fine.
Roman: Well, let's head home.

<Roman, Cyan, and Lufia enter the Inn, and sit down at a table to talk>

Roman: You challenged Gades, didn't you, Cyan?
Cyan: Yes.
Roman: What are you going to do now?
Cyan: First, I'm going to escort Lilah from the castle to the village of
Chatam. And then, I....
Roman: Going off even further?
Cyan: Uh....yes.
Lufia: Cyan. Would you mind leaving us for a moment?
Cyan: I'll wait outside.

<Cyan exits the Inn to wait outside>

Lufia: Roman....I....
Roman: It's alright to go with him.
Lufia: What?
Roman: Don't leave Cyan. It's no accident that you met each other.
Lufia: But I can't leave you all alone.
Roman: Don't worry about me. I'm sure I'll see you again.

<Lufia walks up, beside where Roman is sitting>

Lufia: Roman....
Roman: Go now.
Lufia: I'll be back.

<Lufia slowly walks out of the Inn, to where Cyan is waiting>

Lufia: He said, "Go."
Cyan: I see.

<Without any more words spoken, Lufia and Cyan go to the Castle to get Lilah
to escort back home.>


<Cyan and Lufia find Lilah in the Alekian castle>

Lilah: I don't know how to thank you, Cyan. Thank you so very much.
Cyan: It's nothing. I should take you to Chatam Village. Your bother is 
waiting.
Lilah: Thank you.

<Lilah joins the group, and is escorted to Chatam, with little 
difficulty. There, Danil is waiting.>

Lilah: Danil!

<Lilah rushes over to her brother>

Danil: Lilah!
Lilah: Danil!
Danil: Lilah, is it really you? I'm so glad you're alright.
Lilah: Danil, oh Danil.

<We go back to where Lufia and Cyan are standing, watching>

Lufia: Everything is alright now. Lilah...
Cyan: What's the matter, Lufia?
Lufia: I....I'm just so happy.

<Damil and Lilah go back to where Lufia and Cyan are>

Danil: I don't know how to thank you for bringing Lilah back safely. 
I....
Cyan: Please. Don't worry about it.
Lufia: Just be sure to take good care of your sister.
Danil: I give you my word.
Lilah: Cyan. It's just a rumor, but there's someone in Treck who knows 
about the Sinistrals. Treck is southwest of Sheran. It's far, so be 
careful. May your journey be safe. Good luck, Cyan.

<Lufia and Cyan depart north, through the caves, Sheran, and southwest of
that to find Treck. Here, they find an old man looking over the sea.>

Old Man: I sense unusual energy from you. Did you battle a strong enemy 
lately?
Cyan: How did you know that?
Old Man: Because I used to be a knight with the Guy Legion.
Cyan: Guy? You mean Guy of Doom Island?
Old Man: Yes. It was a long time ago.
Cyan: Do you know anything about Gades?
Old Man: So, you know about the Sinistral Gades. Pretty rare these days 
for one so young!
Cyan: Know him? I fought him!
Old Man: Wha....what's that? You fought Gades? Is this true?
Cyan: Yes.

<The Old Man looks away>

Old Man: If you're telling the truth, that explains the imbalance. 
But....Gades was destroyed.
Cyan: Please tell me what you know about Gades. I must know.
Old Man: Why such interest in the Sinistrals? Don't you fear for your 
life?
Cyan: I am Maxim's descendant.

<The Old Man looks back at Cyan>

Old Man: Maxim? You? Hmm. Follow me.

<Cyan and Lufia follow the Old Man to a house, still in Treck>

Old Man: Ainea. You there?

<A girl steps forward, beside the old man>

Ainea: What is it, uncle? Who's that behind you?
Uncle: This is Cyan. Show them to the East Cave. I want him to meet the 
One.
Ainea: Are you sure? I mean, the One said he wouldn't meet anybody.
Uncle: It's alright. He's a descendant of Maxim. They must meet.
Ainea: Maxim? Cyan, please come with me to the East Cave.
Cyan: East Cave?
Ainea: An important person lives just beyond the East Cave. He often 
helps me. Please come.

<They group together, and set off for the East Cave. After fighting some 
monsters in the cave, the group eventually comes to a door.>

Ainea: Just a moment. I'll open the door.

<Ainea unlocks, and opens the door>

Ainea: It's open. Go through there.

<They group again, and make it through the last part of the Eastern 
Cave. The party finds themselves on a small island, where a single house 
is located. In the house an old man lives. Ainea goes up to him.>

Old Man: Oh, Ainea. Was I expecting you today?
Ainea: No. I'm here for a special reason.
Old Man: Who's that behind you?
Ainea: This is Cyan, a descendant of Maxim.

<Cyan walks up near the old man>

Cyan: Pleasure to meet you.
Old Man: Descendant of Maxim? Then would you be so kind as to focus your 
thoughts?
Cyan: Thoughts?
Old Man: Just think of any one thing. That will be enough.
Cyan: Sure.

<Cyan concentrates>

Old Man: Strong energy. Julst like Maxim's The very same power runs 
through you, too.
Cyan: You know about Maxim? Who are you?
Old Man: I am Guy. I fought with Maxim against the Sinistrals.
Cyan: You're Guy? But....!
Guy: No need to be suprised. I'm over 100 but still kicking! Now. What 
would you want with such an old man?
Cyan: Guy. I battled Gades.
Guy: Gades? But...... That's not possible! He lost at Doom Island!
Cyan: But it was Gades.
Guy: Impossible! Absolutely out of the question!

<Lufia approaches Guy>

Lufia: Guy. Cyan isn't one to lie.
Guy: Hmmm? Who is that?
Cyan: This is Lufia, a childhood friend. We're travelling together.
Lufia: How do you do?
Guy: Lufia, eh? Hmmm.
Lufia: ......?
Cyan: If you know anything of Gades and the Sinistrals, please tell me.
Guy: It hurts to recall. But, if Gades has really returned, there's no 
time to rest. Not even for me!

<Guy begins to walk out of the house>

Ainea: You can't, Guy. You'll hurt yourself!
Guy: But I can't just sit still. I....I can......ugh!!
Ainea: Guy! What's wrong?

<Ainea walks in front of Guy, as if to see what's wrong>

Guy: It's my time. It's....
Ainea: Don't say that. You'll be fine.

<Guy turns to face Cyan>

Guy: Cyan. Seek Artea, the elf. They live a long time. I'm sure he'll 
help you.
Cyan: Is Artea alive, too? Where can I find him?
Guy: There's one in Grenoble who knows about Artea. Remember....
find....Artea. . .
Cyan: I understand. I'll look for him.
Cyan: Don't give in to the Sinistrals. You mustn't! You have Maxim's 
blood.... You....
Ainea: Guy! Guy! No!

<Here the screen fades, and reopens on a gravesite. Ainea stands before 
the grave, Lufia and Cyan just behind.>

Ainea: A great warrior, Guy. May he rest in peace. We'll never forget 
you.

<Ainea walks over to where Cyan and Lufia are standing>

Ainea: What will you do now?
Cyan: We'll go to Grenoble. Someone there knows about Artea.
Ainea: Well, be careful. I'll look forward to the day when peace comes 
to this land.

<Cyan walks up to Guy's grave>

Cyan: Guy. I will defeat the Sinistrals. I promise. Rest. Rest 
peacefully.

<Cyan walks back down to where Lufia is>

Cyan: Let's go, Lufia.
Lufia: Ok.

<Cyan walks off to the west, with Lufia slowly behind>

Ainea: Lufia.

<Lufia turns around. Ainea walks up to her>

Ainea: It may be that the only one who can defeat the Sinistals is one 
who has Maxim's blood.
Lufia: Yes. I know.
Ainea: Stay close to Cyan. Your support is more important than any sword 
or armor!
Lufia: I won't let Cyan get hurt, no matter what. I....
Ainea: Lufia. You be careful, too.

<Lufia walks over to where Cyan waits, and they leave Guy's House, back 
through the East Cave, and into Treck, where they begin to look for a 
ship that will take them to Grenoble. While looking, Lufia and Cyan 
encounter a Green-haired man with a soldier at his side, near a ship. 
They decide to talk to him>

Man: I am Aguro, commander of the Lorbenian Army. I came when I heard 
that Gades invaded Sheran. Can you tell me anything?
Cyan: You want to know about Gades?
Aguro: And you as well, I see. Do you know anything?
Cyan: You may not believe me, but I fought him.
Aguro: What! Is this true? Who are you? What's your name?
Cyan: I am Cyan, knight of Alekia.
Aguro: Cyan. Tell me more of your battle. Let's dine together at my 
camp. You will be my guest.

<A ship sails into the harbor, and destroys the ship Agura had near him. 
Several demons unload from the ship, and face Cyan, Lufia, and Aguro.>

Aguro: Wha....What!
Cyan: Monsters! Monsters everywhere!
Aguro: How interesting! We'll talk later, Cyan. Come on! Let's get them 
all!

<A battle ensues with the demons, however Cyan, Lufia, and Aguro emerge 
victorious>

Aguro: Never before have I seen such swordsmanship!
Lufia: Of course. Cyan is a descendant of Maxim.
Aguro: Descendant of Maxim? So, you were destined to meet Gades. Most 
people flee when they hear that name.
Cyan: If Gades and the Sinistrals have returned, my quest is to destroy 
them.
Aguro: I see. By the way, Cyan, what are your plans now?
Cyan: I'm off to Grenoble. It seems someone there knows about Artea.
Aguro: Grenoble is southwest of Lorbenia, I believe. I've been there. 
You can use my ship to cross the sea.
Cyan: Really? I'd appreciate that.
Aguro: Hey! No problem. Trust me.
Soldier: Commander. The sh....ship was sunk by....by monsters.
Aguro: What!!

<Aguro looks to where the ship once was, and finds it's gone>

Soldier: This town has no more ships.
Aguro: Hmm. So, Cyan. First let's find a ship.

<Lufia turns to Cyan>

Lufia: Will it be alright? Can we trust him?
Soldier: What should I do, sir?
Cyan: Help to restore the town. Understand?

<The group looks around town for information on where, or how, to get a 
ship>

Sailor: The Maberia has been taken by monsters! The captain is missing! 
It's the end!

<Later, in the bar>

Captain: My Maberia was seen at a small island to the west. Have to 
travel through a dangerous cave. What should I do?

<Deciding to check out this for themselves, our heroes head for the 
cave. They find the cave, and fight their way through it. Eventually, 
they exit on a small island, with a ship docked near it.>

Cyan: This must be the Maberia.
Lufia: Cyan! Behind you!

<Three Goblins emerge from the cave, and a battle ensues. The heroes are 
victorious, of course>

Aguro: They're the ones who stole the Maberia!
Lufia: Cyan. Let's board the ship and sail to Treck.
Cyan: Good idea.

<They board the ship and sail into Treck, where they are greeted by a 
sailor at the dock>

Sailor: The Ma....Maberia!! You found it? The captain is up at the 
lodge. Quickly! Go and tell him!

<Our group heads up to the lodge and finds the captain>

Captain: Found my Maberia? Where? The Port? Right! Of course. Let's go!

<The group of four head back down to the dock together>

Captain: My Maberia! Thank you! Anytime you want to go to Lorbenia, you 
ride free. That's my thanks to you.

<Taking up on the offer, the group decides to head to Lorbenia>

Captain: Right. Anchors away!

<The voyage to Lorbenia is short and quick. The group members depart the 
ship, and are now on the dock>

Aguro: I'll return to headquarters to officially request the dispatch of 
the Lorbenian Army. And you, Cyan?
Cyan: Well, first......
Lufia: We're in Lorbenia now. I'd love to see those new dresses at the 
big shop. Can we go, Cyan?
Cyan: I knew you'd say that! Alright. I'll hang around here a little 
longer.
Aguro: I'll come to the inn later. I have many questions to ask you.

<Aguro departs for his headquarters, leaving Cyan and Lufia at the dock, 
who begin heading for the huge Lorbenian shop at the center of town. 
They enter the shop, and begin to look around.>

Lufia: Wow!!

<Lufia runs about, looking at various articles of clothing>

Lufia: Look at all these dresses! Oh, Cyan! What do you think about this 
one?
Cyan: Well, it's fine, I guess. It's pretty, too. It must be pricey!
Lufia: Oh, I love this one! Don't you think it's perfect, Cyan?
Cyan: Give me a break! How much? 5,800 gold pieces?! That's crazy! You 
can buy plated mail for that!
Lufia: I know. I know. It's expensive.

<While looking around, they talk to a lady>

Lady: We're having a sale today
Lufia: Sale! Cyan, I'm going to check it out.

<Lufia begins looking through some more articles of clothing, when all 
of a sudden, a boy runs by her, and quickly leaves her sight.>

Boy: Piece of cake!

<The boy goes down several flights of stairs, and exits the building on 
the main floor.>

Boy: Let's see. What do I have today?

<Suddenly Cyan comes rushing up behind him>

Cyan: Hey!
Boy: What? Who are you?
Cyan: Give me the gold you took from Lufia.
Boy: Wha....what are you talking about? Are you calling me a thief?
Cyan: Don't lie to me. I saw you!
Boy: ............
Cyan: Don't try to run away.
Boy: Darn it! I haven't done anything!

<Lufia also comes up near Cyan and the Boy>

Lufia: Cyan? Here you are. What? Who is this child? What's going on?
Cyan: Lufia. Do you have the gold?
Lufia: What? Money? No, I don't! Did he...?
Cyan: Mmm. What should we do with him? Let's see. The army!
Lufia: Wait, Cyan. He's just a child. We have the money. Let him go.
Cyan: But....!
Lufia: It's alright.

<Lufia goes over by the boy>

Lufia: Boy. Don't you ever do this again. Can you promise me that?
Boy: Yes! I promise.
Lufia: Good. You can go now.

<The Boy hastily walks away>

Cyan: You're too kind, Lufia.
Lufia: It's just that I know he has some reason to steal.

<Cyan and Lufia head to the Inn, where they take a rest>

Innkeeper: Hello. Were you having problems with Lou at the big shop?
Lufia: You know about him, do you?
Innkeeper: Everyone around here knows about him, His name's Lou Shaia. 
He's the son of Professor Raile Shaia,
Cyan: Professor Raile Shaia? Who's that?
Innkeeper: He's studying something weird. I heard he's travelling around 
the world to find whatever it is.
Lufia: Then, why doesn't he take Lou with him?
Innkeeper: There are so many dangerous places out there. He decided to 
leave his son at home.
Cyan: But why does Lou steal?
Innkeeper: I hear that Raile Shaia's research doesn't pay very well. I 
guess he doesn't pay Lou well, either.
Lufia: Some father!
Innkeeper: For that reason, people in this town sort of ignore what Lou 
steals.
Lufia: So that was it. Now I understand.
Innkeeper: Oops. I took too long. So. 20 gold pieces. Are you staying?

<Cyan and Lufia decide to stay over at the Inn. After a stay at the Inn, 
Cyan and Lufia meet Aguro just outside of it.>

Cyan: Aguro.
Aguro: Oh, it's you, Cyan. I was coming to visit you. Cyan. You're going 
ahead with your journey to destroy the Sinistrals. Am I correct?
Cyan: Yes. The Sinistrals are evil. If they have returned, then I must 
defeat them.
Aguro: I see. Then, I'm coming with you.
Cyan: What? Will you really join us, Aguro?
Aguro: What do you mean? Am I not worthy enough for you?
Cyan: Don't be ridiculous! Of course you are. But, if you come with me, 
won't the army suffer?
Aguro: I asked the army to battle the Sinistrals. No interest at all. I 
can't stay there any more.
Cyan: All armies are the same.
Aguro: Well, Cyan? Where are we off to first?
Cyan: Grenoble. Someone is there who knows about Artea.
Aguro: Grenoble is in the southwest. Let's get going!

<And so, the party of three leaves Lorbenia, for Grenoble. Here, they 
encounter an old man in a strange shop underneath the ground>

Old Man: You're new here. I've been living like this for 40 years. I'm a 
pro. Keep your hands off, understand?
Cyan: Excuse me. Do you know someone called Artea?
Old Man: Artea? Oh, you mean the elf who fought at the Battle of Doom 
Island! I've heard of him....
Cyan: You know him? Please tell me more.
Old Man: You don't understand how the game is played. When you ask for 
something, you have to....you know....
Cyan: I have a little money, if that's what you mean. But....
Old Man: Not money. What I want is the "Fairy Kiss" treasure at the 2nd 
level of the Old Cave. Only a woman can reach the "Fairy Kiss". There's 
no way I can get it.

<The party heads north, to the old cave, to retrieve the Fairy Kiss. In 
the cave, they meet a man attending the cave.>

Man: Enter the elevator and lower the switch. You'll go to the 2nd 
level.

<They enter the elevator, and pull the switch, emerging on the 2nd 
level. After some fighting, they come uppon a sign beside a door
that reads...>

        - Only women may enter. -

Lufia: Wait here. I'll go and get it.
Cyan: Will you be alright by yourself?
Lufia: Of course. Trust me.
Cyan: We'll be right here if something happens.

<Lufia enters the door by herself, which leads onto another section of 
the cave. Eventually, she finds the Fairy Kiss and returns to where 
Aguro and Cyan are waiting.>

Cyan: Are you alright, Lufia?
Lufia: I'm fine. Let's return to Grenoble.

<They reform their group, and return to Grenoble, where the old man is 
waiting.>

Old Man: Wow! This is it! This is what I've looked for these 40 years!
Cyan: So, what do you say?
Old Man: Ok, Ok. Artea, right? See the man in the tower northwest of 
town.
Cyan: Northwest Tower. Got it!
Old Man: He's a strange one. Won't meet anybody unless they show him 
this letter from me. He was Artea's apprentice. So he must know 
something.

<And on that note, the heroes go to the NorthWest Tower in search of 
Artea's Apprentice. They climp, and fight, their way to the top of the 
tower, where they encounter a man, presumeably Artea's Apprentice.>

Man: Who are you? Don't interfere with my practice!
Cyan: Wait. I have a letter for you.
Man: A letter? Show it to me. Oh! From my friend in Grenoble. He helped 
me alot when I was young.
Cyan: Uh....
Man: Ah yes. You want to ask about Artea.
Cyan: Do you know him?
Man: I do. But, I can't tell you anything.
Cyan: Why not?
Man: You may be someone important. But, I can't tell you where Artea 
lives.
Cyan: Well, then. How can I make you tell me?
Man: We shall battle each other. One-on-one. For real. Are you truly 
brave enough to accept my challenge?

<Cyan answers him by engaging him in a battle. After a long fight, Cyan 
emerges victorious.>

Apprentice: You are a good person. I can tell by your energy.
Cyan: You'll tell me?
Apprentice: Artea is in Elfrea now.
Cyan: Elfrea?
Apprentice: The village of elves. Humans may not enter. You will not 
find him without an elf helper.
Cyan: So where's Elfrea?
Apprentice: Go south and cross the desert. You'll find a small island 
surrounded by three islands. That's Elfrea. Listen Elfrea is far away. 
You'll have to travel through three towns to get there.
Cyan: I understand. Thanks for all your help.
Apprentice: Take this. It'll make you faster and stronger.

<Cyan gets the "Speed Potion".>

Apprentice: You must have the power of the elves to find Elfrea! Don't 
forget that!

<And, so the heroes leave the tower, and begin to make their way south, 
towards Elfera. While adventuring, they come uppon the small village of 
Kirof, where they decide to rest for awhile. While looking through the 
town, they enter an item shop and see a young blue-haired boy near a 
girl, who is laying in a bed.>

Boy: I promise I'll make you well, Reyna.
Reyna: Thank you, Mark, but it's alright. No medicine has ever worked 
for me.
Mark: You'll be fine. Our town has a ruby, the "Hope Ruby". It makes 
your wishes come true. I'll bring it here.
Reyna: I know of it. But I thought it was a treasure of the Kingdom of 
Medan.
Mark: I'm sure I can borrow it if I ask. Next time I come, I'll bring 
the "Hope Ruby".
Reyna: Thank you, Mark.
Mark: I'll go back to Medan.

<The boy exits the building. Curious, the heroes approach Reyna.>

Reyna: I hope Mark doesn't do something stupid because of me.
Lufia: Is Mark Reyna's boyfriend?
Reyna: Yes, He lives in the eastern town of Medan. He came to see me 
even after I became ill.
Lufia: He's so sweet.
Reyna: I know. But I wonder if I'll ever see him again?
Lufia: That won't happen. You have to get well.
Reyna: Yes. You're right.

<So the heroes leave to the east, towards Medan, which they arrive in 
after a short journey. After asking around town, they learn the Hope 
Ruby is in Medan Castle, so they head in that direction, but before 
entering the Castle, they see Mark rushing out.>

Lufia: Oh, it's you. Didn't I see you at the items shop in Kirof?
Mark: What? Oh! You're the lady who came to Reyna's house.
Lufia: What's the matter? You look troubled.
Mark: I asked the King to lend me the ruby, but he wouldn't even see me. 
I promised Reyna. What shall I do?

<So the heroes enter the castle, and see the Hope Ruby for themselves>

Lufia: Cyan. I'm going to go make a wish.

<Lufia throws in a coin into the water surrounding the Hope Ruby, and it 
sinks into the spring.>

Lufia: Ask me what I wished for.
Cyan: What did you wish for?
Lufia: Hee, hee! I won't tell.

<While exploring the castle, the heroes enter a basement of sorts, which 
appears to lead directly beneath where the Hope Ruby is, above. Two 
people are here, a man and a woman>

Man: Princess. You shouldn't be in a place like this!

<The Princess walks up to the spring, and looks around>

Princess: You've been collecting all the coins thrown into the fountain 
again, haven't you?
Man: Well? That's my job.
Princess: It's sad. We call it the "Hope Ruby", but I know it's just 
made of glass.
Man: But the coins thrown into the spring are what our country needs.
Princess: I know. That's why it's sad. We can't defend the ruby forever. 
Our country must wake up someday.
Man: Princess....
Princess: I wish the ruby was broken!

<When the heroes try to approach the spring, they are blocked by the 
man>

Man: You can't enter here. Please leave.

<They also decide to talk to the king...>

King: I haven't told anyone else, but there's a rumor that the Sinistral 
Amon has been revived. I hope it's just a rumor!

<So, without much left to do in the castle, the heroes leave the castle 
grounds, back into the town of Medan. But before they get a chance to 
barely exit the castle gates, they see Mark run by.>

Lufia: Wasn't that Mark?

<A soldier runs after Mark, followed by another Man>

Cyan: What's happened?
Man: The "Hope Ruby" was stolen! It's the most important thing in Medan!

<The man runs after the soldier and Mark>

Lufia: No. It's not possible.
Cyan: It can't be.

<Going by instinct, Cyan, Lufia, and Aguro go back to Kirof to see if 
Mark really did steal the Hope Ruby. Just as they enter Kirof, they are 
approached by Mark.>

Mark: Reyna has dissappeared!
Lufia: What? Reyna? But she's sick!
Mark: I thought Reyna couldn't even stand! Please help me find Reyna!
Lufia: Of course. You stay here, Mark. It's dangerous from here on out.
Mark: No! I'm going. I promised Reyna that I'd show it to her!
Lufia: I knew it! You're the one who stole the ruby!
Mark: I know it was wrong. I just wanted to make Reyna well, that's all.
Lufia: But Mark, that ruby doesn't have any power......
Cyan: It's alright, Mark. Let's go together. It's very dangerous. Are 
you ready for that?
Mark: Of course!

<They look around town, trying to figure out where Reyna went...>

Boy: I saw Reyna walking toward the Ghost Cave. She looked very strange.

<Leaving Kirof, the group heads north, to where the Ghost Cave is. Here 
they talk to the guard.>

Guard: Reyna entered the cave. I tried to stop her, but she looked 
strange and didn't seem to hear me.

<And on that note, thr group of four entered the Ghost Cave, in search 
of Reyna. After several long fights, the group comes uppon a platform, 
where Reyna is standing.>

Mark: Reyna!
Reyna: ............

<Mark runs up to Reyna>

Mark: Reyna! It's me. Mark! Hang on! We're coming!
Reyna: Aaah!!

<Suddenly, in a flash of light, a monster appears behing Reyna>

Monster: Ha, ha, ha! At last! The ruby will be mine!
Aguro: Miserable phantom! How dare you kidnap the weak and helpless!
Phantom: Do you know how long I've waited for her? Miserable humans! I 
won't let you stop me!

<The group engages the Phantom, and wins>

Reyna: Oh......ahhh.
Mark: Reyna!
Reyna: Mark? Why the face? Where are we?
Mark: Reyna! Are you alright?
Reyna: I feel a bit light, but I'm fine.
Lufia: The ghost kidnapped Reyna. Now I know why the medicine didn't 
work.
Reyna: Mark. Is that....the...."Hope Huby"? Oh, no! It's broken!
Mark: What?! It broke during our battle! Well, we don't need it now, 
anyway.
Reyna: It's very valuable, isn't it? What should we do?
Mark: Tell the truth and apologize. They might forgice us.

<Lufia walks up to Mark>

Lufia: Apologize to the princess, Mark. She'll understand, won't she 
Cyan?
Cyan: Of course she will. Right, Aguro?
Aguro: Maybe she'll reward you instead! Ha, ha, ha!
Mark: ......?
Cyan: Let's return to Kirof.

<The group returns to Kirof>

Lufia: Mark. Reyna. Take care of yourselves.
Reyna: Are you leaving us already?
Lufia: Yes. We have to find a village called Elfrea.
Mark: I thought you couldn't get to Elfrea without an elf in your party!
Lufia: Do you know anything about this, Mark?
Mark: I don't know where Elfrea is, but there are elves in Belgen.
Lufia: Belgin?
Mark: Belgin is a village southeast of Medan. My father went there. He 
said an elf woman lives there. It was the first time my father ever saw 
an elf. He was so excited. He told me the story later.
Reyna: I'll never forget you. Thank you!

<And so the party of three leaves east, towards Belgin, but decide to 
stop in Medan for a brief rest, first. There, they find the Princess 
holding a meeting with the local vendors.>

Princess: I have something very important to tell everyone today. The 
"Hope Ruby" that was stolen the other day is made of glass.
Innkeeper: Great! So the real one is hidden somewhere, right?
Princess: The glass ruby was the only one in Medan.
Innkeeper: What?
Store Owner: Are you saying there was no "Hope Ruby" in the first place?
Store Owner 2: That can't be true!
Man: My wish came true once, you know.
Store Owner 3: But, why would anyone make a fake ruby?
Princess: Medan was rich in gemstone mines. But they ran out years ago. 
When the gemstones ran out, the people of Medan survived through 
tourism. And that's why we had the "Hope Ruby". But this is fraus! It's 
wrong to attract tourists to see a fake ruby. I really want to make 
Medan a rich country. To do that, everyone must pitch in.
Innkeeper: ........
Store Owner: ........
Princess: We're sorry for fooling everyone. Please find a way to forgive 
my father and I for this.

<The Princess bows in shame>

Innkeeper: Princess! Princess! Please don't bow to us!
Store Owner 3: We, too, completely depended on the ruby. We failed you.
Man: We were wrong, too.
Princess: Oh! I....
Innkeeper: It's alright. This country will survive without the ruby.
Man 2: If we really try, we can make a country equal to Lorbenia!
Store Owner 3: I think you're right. Let's do the best we can!

<We pan back down to where Cyan, Lufia, and Aguro are standing, watching.>

Lufia: Medan will survive, I think.
Cyan: Thanks to Mark, perhaps.
Aguro: Yes. That boy did it.

<So the heroes depart Medan, through a cave to the east, and arrive in 
Belgen. However, when they try to enter, they are abruptly blocked by a 
guard.>

Guard: What? Who are you?

<A man rushes down to where the Guard is>

Man: What is it? Are the mosters coming?
Guard: No. Humans!
Lufia: Hey! Some way to treat travellers! Is that the way of this 
village?
Guard: No! No! Of course not!
Man: The monsters attacked us recently. People are a bit tense, you see.
Guard: Forgive us. Please come in.

<The guard lets the group in, who talk to several people around town. 
They learn of a woman named "Jerin" and something about her being 
offered as a ransom. They enter a cave, and talk to a woman who seems a 
bit restless.>

Woman: Jerin was my childhood friend. I was supposed to be kidnapped 
this time. But Jerin offered herself in my place. I was wrong. I just 
wanted to see her again and apologize. I feel so helpless. I can't 
rescue Jerin. Won't you help her?

<The group agrees to help out>

Woman: Thank you! I shouldn't say this, but there's a key to the dais in 
the cave southwest of here. My brother guards the key. Tell him what 
I've just told you. I'm sure he'll let you have it.

<The party goes to the southwest cave, in search of the woman's brother. 
They eventually find what they think may be him, in the cave.>

Man: My younger sister sent you, didn't she? Very well. Here's the key. 
I'll take responsibility. Go and rescue Jerin!

<Cyan recieves the Dais Key, and the group quickly exits the cave, and 
heads towards the Dais where Jerin is being held. They enter the Dais, 
and see a girl on a table of sorts. Two guards prevent anyone from 
reaching the table>

Lufia: Cyan. Look! Isn't that Jerin? She's still a child!
Aguro: Not really. Look at her carefully.
Lufia: ....?
Aguro: She's half elf! The blood of elves and humans mixed. I've heard 
of this, but never seen it, until now.
Cyan: If she's half elf, you can't tell her age by looking, can you?
Lufia: Her age doesn't matter now. What should we do, Cyan?
Cyan: Well, we can't leave things like this.
Lufia: Let's get these two in front of the stairs. That's ho we can help 
her!
Cyan: That's easy, but they'll just kidnap someone else.
Aguro: We have to stop this kidnapping nonsense once and for all!
Jerin: Aaaah!

<A dragon-looking creature takes Jerin off to an unknown destination>

Lufia: Cyan! Jerin!
Cyan: OH NO!
Guard: The monster flew to the North Tower. Maybe Jerin is on the top 
floor!

<Taking the Guard's advice, Cyan and Co. go north, to where the tower is.>

Monster: Amon will be revived! This daughter will be our key! No one can
stop us now!
Cyan: Did you say Amon?
Lufia: Amon? The Sinistral of Terror? No! It's not possible!
Cyan: You know of Amon? That's splendid! Now you shall help us as well!

<The Monster engages the group of three, but they defeat it with little 
difficulty>

Jerin: I'm so happy somebody saved me!
Lufia: Kidnapping! Hmph. I won't stand still for such nonsense!
Cyan: In any case, no one was hurt. Can you stand up?
Jerin: Yes. I'm fine.
Cyan: I'll take you as far as the village.

<They go back to Belgen village>

Cyan: Well, Jerin. We have to leave. It's time to say farewell.
Jerin: What?
Aguro: Enjoy the village's hospitality.
LLufia: Take care now, Jerin.
Jerin: Ex....excuse me. Please, if you don't mind: take me with you.
Cyan: It's dangerous where we're going. We really can't take you with 
us.
Jerin: I'll be in your way, won't I?
Cyan: I didn't say that. We saved your life. I'd hate to see you lose 
it.
Jerin: You're right. Life is precious, isn't it?
Cyan: That's rught. Well, it's time to go.
Jerin: Wait! Wait a second! Please take this. Just to show my 
appreciation.

<Cyan gets a Miracle>

Jerin: Will....will I see you again someday?
Cyan: I can't promise. But, yes, you will.
Jerin: I know. We'll meet again...someday. I'll take care of myself, 
Cyan. And, you take care, too!

<And so, Cyan, Lufia, and Aguro head east across a bridge, and through a 
vast desert and reach the desert village of Suringal beside the ocean.
In Suringal, they learn of a forest that can only be passed if you have 
an elf in your party. They also learn of a place where you can get a 
guide to guide you through the forest. Keeping this in mind, our heroes 
fo in search of this place, and eventualy find it with little 
difficulty. A sign outside of a small building reads...>

        - Guide station to the "Lost Forest". -

<The heroes go inside, where they meet an old man>

Old Man: The "Lost Forest" is just ahead. But, you'll never get through 
without a guide.
Cyan: Is there someone who can show us the way?
Old Man: Well, yes. But, she's only a child. Do you still want to go?

<The group agrees>

Old Man: Alright! You can come out now!

<From the back room, Jerin walks in.>

Jerin: Hello, Cyan.

<Cyan and his group run over to Jerin>

Cyan: Jer...Jerin!
Jerin: I knew you'd have to come this way if you were continuing your 
journey.
Cyan: Hey, old man! This child won't do. Isn't there anyone else?
Old Man: She's the only one.
Lufia: Cyan, let's try it without her. We might be able to find the way 
through by ourselves!
Jerin: Only elves know the way through the forest.
Lufia: You're not an elf!
Jerin: I'm half elf, so I know the way. But for you, it's not possible.
Lufia: ........
Aguro: What do you say, Cyan?
Cyan: What choice is there? We know no other elves.
Jerin: So, you'll let me join your party?
Cyan: It's so dangerous! Why do you want to come with us?
Jerin: You saved my life. I want to help you, Cyan. I.......
Cyan: I understand. Lead on, Miss Jerin.
Jerin: Just Jerin, please.
Cyan: Right. Let's go, Jerin.
Jerin: Yay!
Lufia: Cyan? Wait a moment!
Aguro: Calm down, Lufia. She's just a child.
Lufia: You can't tell with half elves. And besides, I am calm!
Aguro: Alright...Alright.
Lufia: Cyan! Are you really going to let her join our party?
Cyan: There's no one else to guide us. We have to count on Jerin.
Aguro: I agree.
Lufia: I don't!
Cyan: Why not?
Lufia: Why? Just....well, just because. That's why!
Cyan: That's not an answer. Come on. Let's go.

<Cyan, Aguro, and Jerin begin to walk out of the building, but Lufia 
doesn't budge>

Jerin: What's wrong with Lufia?
Cyan: She's just jealous. It's always the same thing. Nothing to worry 
about.
Lufia: Cyan!!

<Lufia runs by Cyan, knocking him to the floor>

Lufia: I'll go first, Cyan!

<Lufia quickly exits the building>

Jerin: Is she always like this?

<Cyan gets up>

Cyan: Ha, ha, ha.

<They leave to the south, and with Jerin's help, easily pass through the 
Lost Forest. On the other side is a small hut where the rest, and 
continue on. They pass through a shrine, where they learn of Three 
Towers that hold the secret to Elfrea. After getting through the shrine, 
they head north towards the town of Jenoba, where they learn of 
different gems in each tower, that must be positioned correctly at the 
top of each one. After this happens, the pathway to Elfrea will open.>


Old Man: 70 years I've been mining rubies. My whole life has been spent 
on rubies!
Cyan: Listen, sir. We really need rubies. Are you sure there are no more 
here?
Old Man: Why do you need rubies?
Cyan: We need them to meet someone called Artea.
Old Man: Artea? The Artea of Doom Island?
Cyan: You know about him?
Old Man: Everyone of my generation knows about Artea! But why do you 
want to see him?
Cyan: The Sinistrals are about to return. We need his help to stop them!
Old Man: The Sinistrals? Hmm. Wait. I'll give you the ruby I've been 
saving.

<The Old Man enters a room to the back, and returns with something>

Old Man: Take this one. It's the "Hope Ruby".
Cyan: The "Hope Ruby"? Why.... why is it here?
Old Man: The Kingdom of Medan depended on rubies. I thought that Medan 
would die without it. So, I kept the real one here. Of course, a fake 
one was used after that. Perhaps there wasn't a reason to keep this one.
Cyan: The fake was destroyed. The King of Medan finally found out.
Old Man: I see. I'm glad to hear that. Well, this ruby isn't necessary. 
Here. You take it.
Cyan: Are you sure?
Old Man: If I could wish on the "Hope Ruby", I'd ask that the Sinistrals 
never re-appear. It's the best I've found in 70 years. I want you to 
have it.



Ghost: Who are you? This tower is mine! Did that dratted Water Fairy 
send you? I hate intruders!

<battle>

Fairy: I am the Water Fairy. Thanks for removing the Dark Ghost. Now I 
can restore the lake again. And the toxic marsh under this tower will 
also return to its original splendor. I really can't thank you enough!

<dissapears>

Jerin: I hear something.
Aguro: I don't hear anything.
Jerin: Only I can hear it. The voice of the wind. The whisper of Shilf.
Cyan: What do you hear, Jerin?
Jerin: A magical spell. Elfrea's spell.
Cyan: Is it possible?
Jerin: Away we go!

<The heroes are instantly teleported to Elfrea. They look around for 
Artea, and while looking, enter a house. When they try to enter a room, 
a woman blocks their way.>

Woman: Who are you people? Where do you think you are? This is......
Man: Mirka. It's alright. Let them pass.
Mirka: Fine. As you wish.

<Mirka lets the heroes pass. They approach the man>

Man: You came about the Sinistrals, didn't you?
Cyan: How did you know that?
Man: Your energy told me. You're related to Maxim, are you not?
Cyan: My name's Cyan. I am a descendant of Maxim.
Man: I see. I feel the same energy from you as Maxim. For a moment, I 
thought he was back.
Cyan: You...you're Artea?
Man: Yes, I am.
Cyan: Artea, the Sinistrals are about to return. I must have your help.
Artea: I'm sorry, but I can be of no help to you.
Cyan: Why not?
Artea: I lost my sight at the Battle of Doom Island. Besides, I'm old 
now.
Cyan: Oh, no.
Artea: I'm sorry that I can't help you.
Cyan: ........
Artea: I can't help, but perhaps the Dual Blade can.
Cyan: Dual Blade? Isn't that the sword Maxim used at the Battle of Doom 
Island?
Artea: Exactly. The sword that defeated the Sinistrals. Its power comes 
from the owner's energy.
Cyan: But I don't have the Dual Blade! I don't even know where it is!
Artea: It's probably at the bottom of the sea with Doom Island.
Cyan: In the sea....?
Artea: You must use the Dual Blade to defeat Daos, the Chief Sinistral. 
Only one who has the same power as Maxim can wield the Dual Blade.
Cyan: But what can I do? The Dual Blade is at the bottom of the sea!
Artea: Do you know Professor Raile Shaia?
Lufia: I think we've heard that name before, haven't we, Cyan?
Artea: He's a descendant of Lexis Shaia who helped Maxim and I a long 
time ago. He's a genius inventor. Professor Shaia might know a way to 
travel under the sea. Odel is south of the small shrine and over the 
mountains. Shaia's lab is in the basement of the castle.
Cyan: Alright. I'll go to Odel.
Artea: Cyan. You must defeat the Sinistrals. We cannot relive the 
nightmare of 99 years ago.
Cyan: I understand. I swear I'll stop them!
Artea: I'll give you this key. You should be able to reach the small 
shrine from the cellar. The rest is up to you.

<Cyan gets the Shrine Key. Just as they are about to leave...>

Artea: Wait!

<The group turns around>

Artea: You. Elf child. I have something for you. Mirka, give her that 
one.
Mirka: Ok.

<Mirka goes to a shelf and retrieves something>

Mirka: Here. Take this.

<Jerin gets Artea's Bow>

Artea: This is my bow. You have elf-blood in you. You'll know how to use 
it.
Jerin: Are you sure I can have this?
Artea: How can I help Cyan if I keep it? Take it and help Cyan.
Jerin: I understand. Thank you.

<The party of four head downstairs, where a portal lies, and go through 
it, arriving at a shrine. After the shrine, the group heads south to 
where Odel is supposed to be, but gets interrupted by a small cave that 
has a mysterious force that prevented them from going in a certain 
direction. However, they quickly overcame this and found Odel, where 
they went immediately to the basement to find Raile Shaia. However, they
learn that he is in Arus. So the heroes travel through a cave that will 
take them there. However, they reach a bridge, that has been severely 
damaged.>

Cyan: The bridge is broken...

<Remembering about a carpenter in Odel, they go back there in search of 
him>

Carpenter: The bridge to Arus is broken? It's old. That's why. I can 
repair the bridge, but not alone. I need my own tools and my old crew. 
One of my old gang is in Lyden. I wonder if you'd call him for me?

<The party agrees to go find him>

Carpenter: Lyden is southeast of here. You'll probably find him eating 
at the restaraunt.

<So the party goes to Lyden, and checks in the Restaraunt....>

Man: What? Piron's calling me?
Cyan: Seems like he needs your help to fix the bridge at the Arus Cave.
Man: Piron and I built Odel Castle. If he's calling me, I have to go. I 
haven't had my dessert yet, but I'm going to Odel right now.

<The Man runs off to Odel. Meanwhile, a cook comes out of the kitchen>

Cook: Here you are. Your des... What happened to the customer who was 
here?
Lufia: Something came up. He had to leave for Odel.
Cook: My customers leave before they finish? I need to study more!

<So the cook goes back to his kitchen, and our heroes go back to Odel.>

Piron: Would you go and check the bridge's condition? In the meantime, 
we'll get the tools ready. Come back after you've checked the bridge.

<The party goes back to the bridge to check it's condition>

Cyan: That's the suspension bridge to Arus.
Lufia: It's pretty smashed up.
Cyan: Let's return to Odel Castle and tell Piron.

<They do just that>

Piron: So it's fallen apart. That's a problem. Well, let's take a look 
at it! We might need your help, too. Come to the cave later. Here we go, 
Princess.
Princess: I asked you, Piron.

<Piron and his apprentice go to the cave, with Cyan, Aguro, Lufia, and 
Jerin slowly behind. Eventually they reach the cave where the bridge 
is.>

Piron: Hello. Would you look at this from the cliff on the right?
Cyan: The cliff on the right? Where the treasure boxes are?
Piron: Yes. You can see best from there. I can't gauge the work from 
down here. This job won't be easy! I need a sharp set of eyes to watch 
out for mistakes!
Apprentice: Looks like a challenge! No problem. The bridge should be 
fine!

<With little difficulty, our heroes make it to the top of the cliff>

Cyan: Piron. We're ready.
Piron: Right! Let's start the repairs. Tell me what you think when we're 
done!

<Quickly, Piron and his apprentice repair the bridge>

Piron: What do you think?
Apprentice: We haven't done a job like this in quite some time!
Piron: Well, the bridge is fixed. We're going back to Odel.

<Piron and his apprentice go back to Odel, while Cyan and co, head back 
down to where the bridge is, and cross it. Further through the dungeon, 
they come to a door, with a sign beside it.>

Lufia: "Le fallas. Le fallas."? Must be some kind of spell.
Aguro: I can't use magic. It's your turn, Jerin.
Jerin: I'll give it a try.

<Jerin walks up to the door>

Jerin: "Le fallas. La fallas."
Cyan: ........
Aguro: ........
Jerin: I can't do it!
Cyan: Stand back. It's my turn.

<Cyan walks up to the door>

Cyan: "Le fallas. La fallas."
Aguro: ........
Jerin: ........
Lufia: I'll try now.

<Lufia walks up to the door>

Lufia: "Le fallas. La fallas."

<The door opens>

Aguro: The door dissappeared! Lufia! You did it!
Lufia: I guess my magic is my strong point, Cyan. Have you changed your 
mind about me?
Cyan: Yes. Yes.
Jerin: I can't stand this!
Lufia: Well, the road is open. Let's see what's up ahead.

<They fight their way through the remainder of the cave, and come uppon 
Arus. Here they learn that the Professor is in the tower of grief to the 
west. But before leaving for there...>

Lufia: Whoa! Beautiful!

<Lufia runs about a flower patch>

Lufia: Cyan. Look at this flower!

<Cyan walks up to where Lufia is, and looks around>

Cyan: Priphea?
Lufia: Yes! Amazing. So many of them! And they're in bloom.

<Aguro and Jerin go to where Cyan and Lufia are standing>

Aguro: Hey, Cyan. Is this flower special?
Cyan: It seems to be.

<Lufia looks around some more>

Lufia: Wonderful! Really beautiful!

<Lufia looks around some more>

Aguro: Lufia seems so happy.
Cyan: I know. She's loved flowers ever since she was a little girl.
Jerin: Cyan? You've known Lufia that long?
Cyan: Uh....I guess you could say that.
Jerin: I'm a little jealous....
Cyan: ........

<Lufia rejoins the others>

Lufia: This village is wonderful! I love this place already.
Cyan: Did you have fun?
Lufia: Oh, yes.
Cyan: well, let's go then.
Lufia: Ok.

<They talk to an old man, who lives in a small house>

Old Man: Everyone who lives in this town is a magician, and we locked 
that door. How did you get through?
Cyan: Lufia opened it.
Old Man: Only the most skilled magician is supposed to know the spell! 
Lufia, eh? You're very experienced, I see.
Lufia: No. Not really.
Old Man: You should meet the elder in the "Tower of Grief". If you're a 
magician, you can learn a lot from him.

<The heroes decide to go to the tower of grief, which is through a cave. 
They climb to the top rather easily.>

Old Man: I'm Flake, elder of Arus. You fought the Sinistrals.
Cyan: You know about that?
Flake: Feel the energy and you'll know right away. Hmm. Strong Pwer. I 
sense great ability.
Aguro: You can see through Cyan's character! People are always more than 
they appear to be.
Jerin: Aguro! Don't be rude!
Flake: Ha, ha, ha! It's alright. The truth is always best. More 
importantly, who removed the magic barrier to the village?
Lufia: I did.
Flake: You must have great skill to remove such a barrier. Come here.

<Lufia walks up to Flake>

Flake: Your powers will grow. I sense much potential.
Lufia: Really?
Flake: Oh, yes! But you've only begun to understand. Let me help you. 
Close your eyes.
Lufia: Alright.

<Lufia closes her eyes>

Flake: Awake! I call upon those powers yet untouched. Come forth!

<There is a brilliant flash of light, and Lufia's magical powers are 
increased>

Cyan: Wow!
Aguro: The magic increased merely by those simple words!
Flake: It's not my power. She's always had it. I simply drew it out.
Lufia: I had no idea it was there.
Flake: You learned through battle. That's the hard way. Had you studied, 
you'd have discovered it earlier.
Lufia: I can't thank you enough.
Flake: I sense a great imbalance. I fear we may see the return of Daos 
and the Sinistrals.
Cyan: We're looking for Professor Raile. Do you know him?
Flake: He returned to the lab. You just missed him. Listen. Hide your 
weakness. Never let the Sinistrals see it! Only courage and strength can 
defeat them.

<The heroes warp back to the Shaia Lab, where they find Raile.>

Raile: Hey! Don't touch anything without asking. The other day, a man 
touched a machine that turns people into frogs. That was a tough one!
Jerin: What....what happened to him?
Raile: Too bad, that. I made a new frog-to-people machine. But, he came 
back as a snake instead. Hmm.
Jerin: Snake?
Raile: Then, he became a lizard. Then, an iguana. Some people are just 
unlucky, I guess.
Jerin: Did he ever return to normal?
Raile: Oh, yes. After 3 days, he said "I never want to see a lizard's 
face as long as I live!" Ha, ha, ha!
Jerin: I feel sorry for him.
Raile: Excuse me. Who are you, anyway? You don't look like my lab 
students.
Cyan: I'm Cyan. These are my friends: Aguro, Jerin, and Lufia.
Lufia: We're looking for Raile Shaia. Would that be you?
Raile: Yes, it would. I am the genius Raile Shaia. Why the face? You 
don't believe me, is that it?
Cyan: No....no. Of course not, but....
Raile: Alright. I'll prove it to you. You look like fighters. Wait right 
here.

<Raile goes to a counter, and retrieves something>

Raile: How about this tonic? With this, you'll have four arms! Be twice 
as strong!
Cyan: Well, no. I don't think so.
Raile: No? I've already run experiments on this, so the effects are 
guaranteed!
Aguro: You did? On who?
Raile: Let's see. You're Jerin, right? For you....

<Raile once again retrieves something from a shelf>

Raile: This is perfect. It's guaranteed to make your hair grow!
Jerin: Really? Well, maybe I could try....
Lufia: Don't you dare!
Jerin: I see. You won't like it if my hair looks better than yours! Ha, 
ha, ha!
Lufia: Even if you try it, my hair will still be longer. Isn't that 
right, Cyan?
Cyan: Well, I wouldn't know. I've never really thought about it.
Lufia: Can't you tell? Where are your eyes, anyway?
Cyan: I'm not always looking at your hair!
Aguro: Hey, Cyan. Lufia. What are you two talking about?
Cyan: Right. We're not here to talk about hair.

<The group faces Raile Shaia>

Cyan: We're here for a ship that goes under the sea.
Raile: Oh! You mean Falcon. One of my best inventions!
Cyan: And Falcon can really travel underwater?
Raile: Not only that! It can fly through the air!
Cyan: Wow! Where is it?
Raile: It's docked in the basement. I normally don't show it to anyone. 
However, I'll let you see it.

<So the group follows Raile downstairs, where they meet a locked door.>

Raile: Just a second. I'll open the door.

<Raile opens the door, and the group walks through, to where a ship is 
docked>

Raile: This is Falcon! Isn't she amazing?
Jerin: Cyan. This ship is covered with dust!
Lufia: And the wings are a little chipped.
Aguro: Hmm. There's a hole in the ceiling.
Cyan: Sorry to ask, but you've never used Falcon before, have you?
Raile: How did you know that?
Lufia: Well, anyone could tell just by looking at it.
Raile: Well, if that's all you have to say, I'll give you a 
demonstration.
Cyan: Right now?
Raile: You wanted to use Falcon, didn't you? I'm saying you can. Are you 
having second thoughts?
Cyan: Actually, he's right.
Lufia: Are you seriously getting into this thing?
Raile: What are you waiting for? Let's go!

<Raile enters the ship>

Cyan: Come on! We need this ship to find the Dual Blade.

<Everyone else enters the ship>

Raile: Everyone ready? Ahead half speed!

<The ship sails off of the dock>

Raile: Prepare to dive!
?????: Is this vessel really seaworthy?
Raile: What do you take me for?

<The ship goes underwater, and travels a bit>

?????: Hey! It's leaking! Are you sure we won't sink?
Raile: We're fine. Pipe down!

<The ship travels a bit further underwater

?????: I'm getting soaked!

<The ship resurfaces, and docks on a higher level>

Raile: There's a slight problem. Underwater navigation is impossible. 
There's no problem on the surface, though.
Cyan: ........
Raile: Of course, I can repair it. But my equipment isn't here. Come to 
Shaia Lab 3 later. Straight west from here.

<Raile Shaia enters another ship, and sails off>

Lufia: He ran away, didn't he?
Cyan: I guess so.
Aguro: He just wanted to leave us with this contraption, didn't he?
Cyan: He's different. That's for sure!
Jerin: But somehow, I like him.

<Everyone looks at Jerin>

Lufia: ......
Aguro: ......
Cyan: He doesn't seem so bad.
Aguro: Anyway, we can travel across the sea now. Let's make good use of 
it.
Cyan: Let's head for Shaia Lab 3. He said he could repair Falcon, right?

<The party members enter the ship, and make for Shaia Laboratory 3. They 
arrive in no time at all, thanks to the ship. When there, they find 
Raile once again.>

Raile: I've been waiting for you. I know you just arrived , but could 
you go to Bakku and bring back a man called Cooper?
Aguro: You should go and get him yourself!
Cyan: Aguro! Sorry, Professor. He's really a good fellow. But, sometimes 
behaves badly.
Jerin: His mind is worse!
Aguro: What?
Jerin: I just told the truth!
Lufia: Listen, you two. Don't start here!
Cyan: Professor. You want us to bring Cooper back here?
Raile: Yes. Cooper is my right hand man. I really need him to help me 
repair Falcon. He's probably at the cleric's hut in Bakku. You'll find 
it if you travel due west. I'll be here preparing things. I'll let you 
handle Cooper.

<So the heroes go to Bakku, and check in the Cleric's Hut>

Cyan: I heard that a man called Cooper was here.
Cleric: Cooper. He went to the "Old Cave" today. He said they finally 
reached the fifth level. He's bound to be there.

<Looking for Cooper, the party warps to Grenoble, and searches the fifth 
floor of the old cave for him. They eventually find him...>

Cooper: This is no place to meet people!
Cyan: Are you Cooper?
Cooper: How do you know my name? Who are you?
Cyan: I'm Cyan. Professor Raile asked me to take you to him.
Cooper: Professor Raile needs me? Then I have to go. Let's move!
Jerin: He's a bit strange, Cyan.
Aguro: Probably because he's Raile's right hand man.
Cooper: We'll talk later. Luckily, I have "Escape". I'm always prepared. 
It'll take us outside. Escape!
Cyan: ........
Lufia: ........?
Cooper: No. No. Not right! Uh,uh. It's damp. No good. Nope.
Cyan: Jerin. Please.
Jerin: Right! Escape!

<The party warps out of the tunnel, where they warp back to Shaia Lab 
3.>

Raile: Hey, Cooper! How are you?
Cooper: Sorry for being away so long, Professor. What can I do for you?
Raile: I need you to help me repair Falcon. It won't travel underwater.
Cooper: I can see that. It's not ready yet. We need Alumina.
Cooper: I thought so. Is there any left?
Cyan: What's Alumina?
Raile: It's a light metal that doesn't rust. Falcon is made of Alumina.
Cyan: How much do you need?
Raile: Seven pieces should do it.
Cyan: Where can I find it?
Raile: There's a cave in the Fargo Islands. In Linze is a man named 
Brant. He knows where it is. Ask him. The "Tower of Light" is north of 
Bakku. Linze is beyond the tower.

<The heroes go to the tower, to find that the exit to the other side is 
locked. With little choice, they climb the tower, to the top where they 
find a man worshipping something.>

Man: Who dares to disturb our chants for Amon's revival?
Cyan: Amon? The Sinistral of Terror?
Man: Those who interfere have no need to know!

<A battle ensues, which the heroes win. Suddenly, there are several 
bright flashes of light, followed by a voice speaking from nowhere.>

Voice: I have awakened.
Cyan: Who....who?

<The heroes spread out, looking for the owner of the voice>

Voice: That mortal was weak. He lacked the will to live. But I......I 
have waited a long time for this moment.
Cyan: What are you saying?
Voice: The energy of your battle revived me, earlier than I expected.
Lufia: Who's there? Show yourself!
Voice: Is that Lufia? Indeed it is! Just as Gades said.
Lufia: How do you know my name? What's all this about Gades?

<Suddenly a man warps in from nowhere>

Man: Behold! Amon has returned! My revival is complete!

<Gades also warps in>

Cyan: Gades!!!
Gades: We meet again, little knight. What's wrong? You don't look happy 
to see me! Ha, ha, ha!
Lufia: And why should our happiness be any concern of yours?
Gades: Unchanged, I see. Always wanting to win.
Aguro: What are you waiting for, Cyan? Here's your chance! Destroy them! 
Now!

<Our heroes close in on the two Sinistrals, ready for a fight>

Amon: Foolishness.

<Focusing his energy, Amon blasts the heroes away>

Amon: I have no time to toy with you. Enough! The Great Reunion draws 
nigh! Even now, our brother Daos awakens!

<Amon and Gades teleport out. The heroes get up from the places they 
were thrown, and meet>

Cyan: Is everyone alright?
Lufia: Yes.
Jerin: I'm fine.
Aguro: Cyan! Were those really the Sinistrals Amon and Gades?
Cyan: Yes.
Aguro: Such power. Ifelt it right away. Can we win, Cyan?
Cyan: We must. If all of them are revived, the world will suffer great 
catastrophe.
Aguro: They said Daos was nearly revived, didn't they?
Cyan: I must have the Dual Blade before that happens! We have to find 
those 7 Alumina so Falcon can travel underwater!
Lufia: Brant is in Linze. He should know where we can find some.
Cyan: Let's move! Quickly!

<The heroes quickly retrieve the Light Key, and go back downstairs, and 
through the door, to the town of Linze, where they learn that Brant has 
gone to the cave on Gayas Island. Hastily, the party makes their way 
there. They meet a man by a stream of water in the cave.>

Cyan: Are you Brant?
Man: No, I'm Clack, the Doom Island researcher.
Cyan: Doom Island researcher?
Clack: I'm interested in Doom Island. Ask me anything about it.
Cyan: I want to know about Doom Island
Clack: East of here is Ring Island. It was created when Doom Island fell
into the sea. There's a lagoon in the middle of the island. Some folks 
say that the Fortress of Doom is at the bottom.
Cyan: In the center of Ring Island. I see.
Clack: There are 3 sea caves around ring Island. They lead to the center 
of the lagoon. I recently discovered something unbelievable about Doom 
Island!
Cyan: What did you discover?
Clack: The ocean currents flow near Doom Island. But they've changed 
recently.
Cyan: What caused that?
Clack: Well, it seems that the island is starting to move. I'm afraid 
that something terrible is about to happen!
Cyan: Tell me about the Dual Blade.
Clack: The Fortress of Doom should hold the Dual Blade.
Cyan: The Fortress of Doom?
Clack: It's where the final battle was fought. The Dual Blade sank with 
it into the sea. The fortress was supposed to have disappeared with Doom 
Island when it fell into the center of Ring.
Cyan: I want to know more about Alumina.
Clack: There was a lot of it in the old days. Now, you can only find it 
in the Fargo Islands. The Fargo Islands are north of here. Brant goes 
there all the time. There might even be some Alumina here, if you search 
this cave well.
Cyan: Do you know anything about Brant?
Clack: He's my friend. What's your business with him?
Cyan: I need Alumina. I heard that Brant knows where to find some.
Clack: Yes. He'd be the one to know. He lived by it. Of course he said 
that there's hardly any left these days.
Cyan: I heard Brant was here, so I came. Do you know where he is?
Clack: He told the townspeople that? Hmm. Brant's in Marse.
Cyan: Is Marse near here?
Clack: His girlfriend lives there. It's a secret, you see. So, he said 
he was here. Marse is a port north of Linze. Follow the shoreline by 
boat and you'll find it. If he's not in Marse, he's in the caves, 
looking for Alumina.

<Satisfied with this information, our heroes turn to leave the cave, 
however....>

Clack: By the way, who are you?

<Cyan turns around>

Cyan: I'm Cyan, descendant of Maxim.
Clack: Maxim's descendant? No kidding!
Cyan: It's true.
Clack: I have something to give you. Follow me.

<Clack walks off to another section of the cave, with our heroes slowly 
following behind him. He stops near a group of boxes and chests.>

Clack: Found it long ago. The ring Maxim used. This might be of great 
help to you.

<Cyan gets the Wave Ring.>

Cyan: Can I really have this? It's been yours for so long!
Clack: Please. Take it. If it helps to destroy the Sinistrals, then all 
my research hasn't been in vain after all! If you really have Maxim's 
blood, you will defeat the Sinistrals. I believe it.

<Thanking Clack, the party leaves the cave, and goes in search of 
Brant in Marse. They look around Marse, and bump into a woman in the 
Cleric's Hut>

Woman: Brant went to Loire Island to look for Alumina. He hasn't 
returned yet. Our wedding day isn't far off!

<The party heads off to Loire Island, where they find Brant's boat 
docked just off shore. The explore the cave on the island, and 
eventually come to a man trapped on a lower level.>

Man: I fell down here when I was looking for Alumina. I found some, 
but now I can't get out! If you can use magic, please help me.

<The party agrees to help him>

Jerin: You'll be fine. My magic will bring you up.
Man: Really? Great! Thanks a lot!
Cyan: By the way, we're looking for Brant. Are you by any chance....?
Brant: That's me. You're looking for me?
Cyan: I'm looking for Alumina, too. I heard you knew where to find it.
Brant: I see. Well, you helped me. So, I'll make an exception and tell 
you where it is.
Brant: There's 1 piece in the cave on Elba Island, 2 on Ulupp Island, 
and 1 on Loire Island. Warp zones link the caves on Elba and Ulupp. You 
must remember this fact, or you could become lost.
Cyan: I understand. Let's get you out of here.
Jerin: Escape!

<Jerin casts the Escape spell, and they are teleported to the surface>

Brant: Thanks. Take this for all you've done.

<Cyan gets some Alumina>

Brant: Well, I'm out of here! My girlfriend is waiting for me in Marse.

<Brant climbs into his boat, and sails off for Marse. The heroes collect 
more pieces of Alumina, bringing up their total to 6. With one left to 
go, they sail down to the Kingdom of Herat on a rumor that King Herat has
some Alumina. While exploring the castle, they come uppon the cook.>

Cook: You! Young lady. Would you taste this, please?

<The cook puts some food on the table, and Jerin eats it>

Jerin: Oh. Wow! Delicious! But strange. Mm. What is it?
Cook: Strained slime.
Jerin: Slime? Oh! Yuck! Don't let people eat this! Ugh!

<Aguro walks over to where Jerin is>

Aguro: Hey, slime elf! How was it? Ha, ha, ha!
Jerin: Slime elf? Do you think I ate this on purpose? Oh, Cyan!
Cyan: Aguro! You hurt Jerin's feelings! How could you?
Aguro: Just a little joke, that's all. A joke!
Cyan: Jerin. No one will call you a slime elf anymore.
Jerin: Oh. I know, Cyan.

<Lufia runs near where Jerin is>

Lufia: YAH! Slime elf!
Jerin: WAAHH!
Cyan: Lufia!!!
Lufia: You always pay attention to Jerin! Why don't you ever notice me?
Cook: It's not poison. You won't die if you eat it, you know.
Cyan: Why are you cooking with slime, anyway?
Cook: My King loves good food. But, he's been so picky recently. It's 
really starting to annoy me!

<They go upstairs to see the King>

King: Everything I've eaten recently tastes terrible! I'd give my jewels 
for some delicious food!

<Hearing about Lyden's Wizard of Taste, the heroes decide to warp to 
Lyden to see if there's any way they can find something good for the 
King to eat>

Wizard: What? King Herat said he wanted something to eat? Now that's the 
King I know!
Lufia: Do you know King Herat?
Wizard: He's famous for his appetite. He's eaten almost everything I've 
made.
Jerin: Are there any dishes that suprised him recently?
Wizard: Well, there's one....but it's not really a dish.
Jerin: What is it?
Wizard: It's a flavor. A spell has been cast on it. That's why any food 
tastes great with it.
Jerin: Fantastic!
Wizard: Don't jump to conclusions so quickly. You think the dish is 
good, but that doesn't mean it is good.
Aguro: So, you're saying that even dishes everyone hates would actually 
taste good. Right?
Wizard: Right.
Lufia: But that's amazing! Why did you make such a thing?
Wizard: It was originally for emergencies. You use it when there's 
nothing to eat. Like a famine.
Lufia: I see. I guess it has some uses.
Wizard: I sympathize with the people. The King's appetite was becoming 
intolerable!
Lufia: Such tastes are expensive, aren't they?
Cyan: I don't mind. Can I have some?
Wizard: To tell the truth, I haven't really finished it. I need a purple 
newt. I heard I could find one in the cave east of Herat. I went there 
myself. But, I didn't see any. I could finish this if I had a purple 
newt.

<So our heroes go to the cave just east of Herat, and get some Purple 
Newt. And with the Purple Newt, they warp back to Lyden to see the Wizard.>

Wizard: That's a purple newt! Wait. I'll fix up a dish right away!

<The Wizard makes something in the kitchen...>

Wizard: Take this. I guarantee that it will satisfy King Herat!

<Cyan gets the "Magic Flavor". And with the Magic Flavor in hand, they 
go to see the King's Cook.>

Cook: This is the magic flavor made by Lyden's "Wizard of Taste"! Just a 
minute.

<The heroes line themselves along the table, and the cook goes to fetch 
a helper. And he swiftly returns>

Cook: I'll just whip it up right here!

<The cook and his assistant prepare the dish>

Cook: It's done. Please try it.
Cyan: Mm. Wow! That's good!
Lufia: Yes! Really delicious!
Aguro: Now this is excellent!

<Aguro looks over at Jerin>

Aguro: What's the matter, Jerin? Don't you want to try it?
Jerin: Um, no. Not right now.
Cook: The King will love this! You've been a big help. Please see him. I 
know he'll reward you.

<They do just that>

King: I heard about you from the cook. Thank you! My jewel collection is 
in the basement. Please go there.

<They go downstairs to the King's treasure room, and take everything, 
among the items found is the final pice of Alumina they require. 
Hastily, the heroes teleport back to Shaia Lab 3, to see Professor 
Raile. However, when they arrive...>

Man: Oh no, Cyan! The Professor went to Aisen Island alone!
Cyan: Why would he want to go there?
Man: The pirates kidnapped Lou! He went to the tower to try and rescue 
him.

<The heroes go to Aisen Island, where they see Raile's ship docked. 
Without much choice, the heroes begin to climb the Pirate's tower.
They eventually fight their way to the top...>

Pirate: Scurvy scum! Come to rescue the lad, have ye? Arrr! Don't be 
thinking you'll leave here safely!

<A battle between two pirates, and our for heroes ensue. However, Cyan, 
Lufia, Aguro, and Jerin are victorious. After the battle, they run op to 
a platform, where the pirates were keeping Lou.>

Cyan: Good to see you again, Lou.
Lufia: Do you remember us?
Lou: You....you! Are you still chasing me? My stealing days are over!
Lufia: Don't be silly. We're here to rescue you.
Cyan: What were you doing hanging around a place like this anyway?
Lou: Well, you know. I had some business to take care of.
Lufia: Looking for your father, weren't you?
Lou: No way! I don't care at all for someone like......
Lufia: He's here, looking for you. But the pirates caught him.
Lou: Really? Father tried to rescue me? Father?
Lufia: Let's return together after we rescue your father.

<The group of five reforms, and takes the key that was stashed in a 
chest on the platform. They eventually get to the cell where Raile is 
being held.>

Raile: Good grief! Thank you!
Lou: Caught so easily by the pirates, eh? What a klutz! You haven't 
changed a bit!
Raile: Huh? Isn't......isn't that boy......? Why, it's Lou!
Lou: Yo! Dad! You didn't know it was me for a moment, did you?
Raile: That's because boys of your age grow so fast. It's hard to 
recognize them.
Lou: You can't recognize your own son just because I grew taller?
Raile: Don't be silly.
Lufia: Stop it you two! It's been a long time since you've met. Don't 
start by arguing!
Cyan: Like father, like son, eh?
Aguro: Oh, brother!
Cyan: By the way, Raile. We've found 7 pieces of Alumina. Can we repair 
Falcon now?
Raile: Of course. Let's start right away! Please go to Lab 3.

<The group of six descends the tower, and meets back at the bottom, 
where the two ships, Falcon, and Raile's, await.>

Raile: I'm sailing back to Lab 3. What will you do, Lou?
Lou: I don't know. Maybe....
Lufia: Go with your father, Lou.
Cyan: Yes. Go with your father, Lou.
Lou: To tell you the truth, I really don't want to go with him. But, I 
don't know what he'll do without me.
Aguro: You're right. Watch him carefully. Ha, ha, ha, ha!
Lufia: Be good to him, won't you?
Raile: I'm always good to Lou!
Lou: If that's true, why don't you write once in a while?
Raile: Write? You know, I just invented a voice box. Use this and you 
can speak to someone far away. You don't need letters.
Jerin: Awesome! That sounds really handy.
Raile: Of course, you'll need a cord to connect them, you see.
Lou: Why are you always making such useless things?
Raile: Useless? I don't think so. You can talk to anyone, anywhere in 
the world with this! Isn't that amazing?
Lou: Who's going to lay the line? THINK before you dream something up!
Lufia: Oh, these two....
Cyan: Don't worry. Look. They're laughing.
Lufia: I guess so.
Raile: Like I said, I'll be in Lab 3.

<Lou and Raile enter their boat, and sail for Shaia Lab 3>


<Our heroes arrive at Shaia Laboratory number three with little difficulty>

Raile: Good. Let's start the repairs. Cooper! Bring Falcon around.
Cooper: Right.
Raile: Let's go!

<The group goes to the dock, where Cooper is sailing in with the Falcon. 
Cooper disembarks the Falcon>

Cooper: Professor. Everything is ready!
Raile: A genius like me can repair this in a matter of seconds!

<Raile and Cooper enter the Falcon, and quickly make repairs to it>

Jerin: Have you fixed it already?
Raile: I told you I'm a genius!
Cyan: So, can we travel underwater now?
Raile: Of course! There's nothing to worry about. Climb aboard!
Lufia: Cyan! At last we can go to Doom Island. I hope we'll find the 
Dual Blade!
Raile: Falcon can dive wherever there's an eddy. There's a ring-shaped 
island north by northeast. They say that's the place where Doom Island 
fell. The village of Soshette is on the north side of the island. Let's 
go there, first.
Cyan: Thank you so much, Professor! Let's go!

<The party consisting of Cyan, Lufia, Aguro, and Jerin board the Falcon, 
travel underwater for a ways, and resurface just beyond Shaia Lab 3. 
Quickly, they make their way to Soshette. After resting in Soshette, and 
buying some supplies, our heroes dive underneath the waters, to where 
the sunken Doom Island awaits them. Finding the Doom Fortress, they 
enter.>

Cyan: There's still air in here! Something feels strange.

<The group explores the crumbled fortress, until they come upon a 
raised platform with red tiling. A sword rests on the ground>

Cyan: Is this the Dual Blade?

<Something begins to buzz>

Aguro: What's that sound?
Cyan: The Dual Blade. It's ringing!

<A vast energy surrounds the Dual Blade, and Cyan retrieves it. Suddenly 
the sunken fortress begins to shake violently>

Aguro: What the......!?

<Four statues emerge from the floor, each one representing a Sinistral>

Cyan: Sinistrals!
Aguro: No. Stone statues of the Sinistrals.
Cyan: Those ones are Amon and Gades. Good work. Looks just like them.
Aguro: That means Daos and Erim are at the back.

<Aguro goes to look at the back two statues>

Aguro: Cyan. Come here for a moment.

<Cyan goes to where Aguro is looking at the statue of Erim>

Cyan: This one!?

<Lufia also comes to see what the commotion is all about>

Lufia: Is this statue....me? Is this me?

<Jerin also joins the others>

Jerin: This is Lufia, isn't it? Why is a statue of Lufia among the 
Sinistrals?
Lufia: How would I know?
Jerin: But everyone would agree that this is a statue of Lufia.
Lufia: What? Are you saying I'm a Sinistral?
Jerin: Well, no. I didn't mean it that way.
Lufia: I'm Lufia. I was raised by Roman at the Alekia Inn. I'm just an 
ordinary woman. I know nothing about this.
Cyan: Lufia.
Lufia: Cyan! It's true. I really don't know anything!
Cyan: I know. How long do you think we've known each other? You're 
Lufia, and no one else.
Lufia: Cyan....
Aguro: Wait! Could this be a trap? Is someone trying to break us up?

<Suddenly a voice speaks from nowhere>

Voice: Possibly......

<Amon and Gades warp in>

Cyan: Amon! Gades!

<Another man also warps in>

Man: Maxim's descendant lives.
Cyan: Daos? Is that Daos?
Daos: Yes, I am Daos. The waiting is finally over. The day of our 
reunion has arrived.
Cyan: Reunion? Where's Erim? I don't see her.
Daos: Erim was revived 16 years ago.
Cyan: 16 years?
Daos: Indeed. Erim is Lufia. Lufia is Erim.
Lufia: LIAR! You lie!
Daos: Lufia. Do you remember your parents?
Lufia: ........
Daos: Of course not. You have no parents. They never existed. You are 
Erim.
Lufia: ........!
Daos: We can use our energy to assume any form we choose.
Cyan: Lufia doesn't remember her parents because they died when she was 
small.
Daos: So you say. But why do you think we let you live this long?
Cyan: ........
Daos: I am pleased. You have brought Lufia back to me.
Cyan: What are you saying?
Daos: Don't you see? Maxim destroyed us 99 years ago. Now Lufia has 
returned us to life. Lufia's power brought our energies together once 
more.
Lufia: NO! NOOO!!
Cyan: It's a lie! She could never revive you! You're lying!
Daos: Here me, mortal! Look past your emotion. See the truth of my 
words. Go ahead. Ask her a question.

<Daos focuses his energy, which releases itself on Lufia>

Lufia: Aaaah!
Cyan: Lufia! Lufia! Speak to me!
Daos: She is still alive. I only shocked her to unlock the memories.
Lufia: My head. Cyan, help me!
Cyan: Lufia! Hang on!
Amon: Daos. Her recovery will take time.
Daos: We have all the time in the world. Come....

<Daos, Amon, and Gades teleport out, and the fortress begins to shake 
violently, again>

Aguro: An earthquake!
Cyan: No! The fortress is moving.
Jerin: Cyan!
Cyan: Jerin! Escape!
Jerin: Let's get out of here!

<Jerin casts the Escape spell. Our heroes sail the Falcon to shore, as
they see Doom Island rise into the sky>

Jerin: Cyan! Doom Island!
Aguro: I don't like the looks of this, Cyan.
Cyan: Let's head to the inn at Soshette. I'm worried about Lufia.

<We cut to the Inn at Soshette, where we see Cyan, Jerin, and Aguro 
around a bed where Lufia apears to be sleeping.>

Jerin: Lufia went to sleep.
Aguro: Cyan. About what the Sinistrals said...
Cyan: Tomorrow, Aguro. I'm tired. I just want to get some sleep.

<Cyan and Aguro walk to their room at the Inn, and go to sleep for the 
night. We reopen on Lufia & Jerin's room, where Lufia is waking up>

Lufia: Is this place Soshette? I remember now. I fainted.

<Lufia walks over to Cyan and Aguro's room, but just stops outside of 
the door>

Lufia: Cyan? Are you awake?
Aguro: Cyan. What are we going to do?
Cyan: About what?
Aguro: Lufia, of course.
Cyan: What's wrong with Lufia?
Aguro: Stop living in a fantasy! Can you deny what Daos said?
Cyan: What are you saying? Erim's dead. All we have to do is destroy 
Amon, Daos, and Gades!
Aguro: I agree. But, remember what Daos said about the reunion! Do you 
think Lufia brought the Sinistrals back to life?
Cyan: What are you trying to say?
Aguro: Even if we destroy the 3 remaining Sinistrals, they'll continue 
to return as long as Lufia lives!
Cyan: ........
Aguro: If it's true, Cyan, what are you going to do?
Cyan: We have to destroy them!
Aguro: Cyan? Do you realize what you're saying?
Cyan: ........
Aguro: You'll have to destroy Lufia, too. Can you do that?
Cyan: Truthfully, I'm not sure. I've never really thought about it.
Aguro: Obviously, I don't want to think about it either.
Cyan: Aguro. Listen to me.
Aguro: What is it?
Cyan: Do you think Lufia would try to harm us?
Aguro: Why are you asking me? How should I know?
Cyan: Let's not talk about it anymore. We'll just wait and see what 
happens.
Aguro: Alright.
Cyan: Let's see if Jerin and Lufia are awake yet.

<Uppon hearing that, Lufia hastily returns to her own room. Cyan and 
Aguro eventually follow>

Cyan: Jerin? Lufia? Are you awake? I'm coming in.
Jerin: Ahh....Is it morning already?
Aguro: Let's get moving! Let's go!
Jerin: It's too early to shout, Aguro!
Lufia: Good morning, Cyan.
Cyan: Good morning, Lufia. Sleep well?
Lufia: Mm.
Cyan: How's your head?
Lufia: Ok. It doesn't hurt now. I'm fine.
Cyan: Good.
Lufia: Aren't you going to ask me?
Cyan: What?
Lufia: My memory! Don't you want to know if my memory's returned?
Cyan: You don't remember a thing, do you?
Lufia: No. But, do you trust me?
Cyan: It doesn't matter. You're Lufia. You don't have to remember 
anything.
Lufia: Cyan.
Cyan: Do you trust yourself?
Lufia: Thanks. I'm fine.
Aguro: Cyan. What will we do now?
Jerin: Doom Island is floating in the sky!
Cyan: The Professor said that Falcon can fly. Let's go to Lab 3.

<On that note, the heroes warp to Shaia Lab 3 to see Professor Raile>

Raile: Are you alright? I was so worried when I saw Doom Island rising 
in the sky!
Cyan: We escaped just in time. And Professor....
Raile: I know. Falcon can travel through the air. But you need Power Oil 
for that.
Cyan: Power Oil?
Raile: It gives great lift. We haven't used it because it's very 
dangerous.
Cyan: And where is it?
Raile: It should be for sale in Epro. Go and buy some. I'll head for 
Frederia.
Cyan: Frederia?
Raile: Lab 4 is there. It's the only place where I can refit Falcon. 
Frederia is due south. I'll go on ahead. Come and see me when you get 
the Power Oil.

<So, with the Dual Blade in hand, Cyan, Lufia, Aguro, and Jerin head 
north from Marse to Epro in search of some Power Oil, however, when they 
get there to buy some....>

Store Owner: Sorry, we're closed. We couldn't get any Power Oil today.
Cyan: Where do you get Power Oil?
Store Owner: In the "Oil Cave" north of town. But, a large landslide 
closed off the road recently. A man named Hedge tried to get through, 
but he couldn't pass.
Cyan: Where can I find this Hedge?
Store Owner: I think he's north of town. He's looking for a way through.

<The heroes go north, in search of Hedge. They bump into a man along the 
way...>

Cyan: Are you Hedge?
Hedge: That's right. Who are you and what do you want?
Cyan: Please tell us where the Power Oil is.
Hedge: It's in the Oil Cave north of here. This is the road, but, as you 
can see, it's been blocked by a landslide. You're searching for the 
Power Oil?
Cyan: Yes.
Hedge: The door to the Oil Cave is locked. Take this key. I'm going to 
look for a new job.

<Cyan gets the "Oil Key">

Hedge: The Oil Cave is just north of here, but there's no way to reach 
it. But, just after the last earthquake, some eddies appeared in the 
East Lagoon. I don't suppose it matters.

<Taking this advice, the party goes to check out the eddies Hedge 
described, in hopes of being able to reach it with the Falcon. Indeed, 
there is an underground cave that takes them beyond the slide. The party 
fights it's way through the Oil Cave, and defeats a giant Oil Dragon at 
the end of it, retrieving some Power Oil. Quickly, they teleport back to 
Shaia Lab 4, where Raile Shaia awaits them.>

Raile: I see you have the Power Oil. Well, then. Let's start the refit! 
Louise! Bring Falcon around.
Louise: Ok.

<Louise brings the Falcon into the dock>

Raile: Here we go!

<Raile, Cooper, Louise, and another Lab assistant enter the Falcon and 
refit it.>

Raile: The refit is finished.
Cyan: Thanks for everything, Professor. I promise to do everything in my 
power to defeat the Sinistrals!
Raile: Take Falcon. Please bring it, and yourselves, back in one piece, 
won't you?
Lufia: The four of us!
Aguro: That's right. We'll be back when this is over.
Jerin: Yes. We'll all return together, right Cyan?
Cyan: Trust us, Professor. We'll bring her back.
Raile: Remember that, and you'll be fine. I'm finished here. The rest is 
up to you.
Cyan: I understand.

<An assistant comes running down from upstairs>

Assistant: Professor! Doom Island is moving again! It's over the roof of 
Glasdar Tower!
Raile: What? Glasdar Tower? I don't like the sound of that!
Cooper: There's bad turbulence around Glasdar Tower. Falcon can't get 
close enough for a landing!
Raile: There's a connecting cave south of the tower. It's surrounded by 
mountains, but Falcon can take you there.
Cyan: Very well. Let's head for the cave.

<Our Heroes board the Falcon, and sail out to sea, where the Falcon 
turns into an airship of sorts, and flies to its destination, namely the 
cave to the Glasdar Tower. They fight their way through the cave, and 
climb to the top of the Glasdar Tower with little difficulty. When they 
reach the top, several bright flashes of light occur, and a monster 
warps in>

Monster: Welcome! I am Nazeby, agent of Daos. I have the honor of 
sending you......TO YOUR DOOM!

<A fierce battle between our heroes and Nazeby occurs, which the heroes 
win, of course>

Nazeby: Defeated by mortals?! How will....I explain this to my master? I 
know! You shall be my gift!

<Nazeby gathers his energy, and several more flashes of light occur>

Lufia: Aaaah!
Cyan: Lufia! What's wrong?

<An energy begins to form around Lufia>

Cyan: The Dual Blade is ringing!
Lufia: My......my head! Aaah!

<The energies collide, and everyone but Lufia is thrown across the top 
of the tower, rendered unconcious. Lufia looks around>

Lufia: WHAT? Did I do this?

<A voice speaks from above>

Voice: The power is released. In time all shall be revealed.
Lufia: That voice! It's Daos!
Cyan: Lu....Lufia.

<Lufia rushes over to where Cyan is laying>

Lufia: Maxim....Maxim? No. It's Cyan!
Daos: I am pleased. The Dual Blade triggered your mind. My little gamble 
succeeded.
Lufia: Daos? Where are you? What do you mean? What are you saying?
Daos: Why do you think I would not destroy the very thing that threatens 
me?
Lufia: ........
Daos: Is it not clear? I gave you Dual Blade to restore your memory, 
Lufia.
Lufia: No....it can't be....
Daos: Accept the truth. I sense your struggle. The memories of Lufia are 
fading, while Erim's grow stronger!
Lufia: ........
Daos: Didn't you call Cyan "Maxim"? Their energy is the same. Erim. Take 
the Dual Blade amd come to me!
Lufia: You must be joking!
Daos: Lufia's memories are fading away. Accept the truth. You are Erim, 
the Sinistral of Death!
Lufia: No! I don't believe you!
Daos: Erim! Take the Dual Blade, or it will be you who fades into 
oblivion!
Lufia: Cyan will destroy me......
Daos: Our only foes are those with the blood of Maxim!
Lufia: Cyan? The foe?
Daos: Lufia is gone. Forget about Cyan. Come back to me.
Lufia: Forget about Cyan?

<Lufia takes the Dual Blade from Cyan, and warps out>

Amon: Daos! Destroy Cyan now! We have him!
Daos: No. She still has Lufia's thoughts. There will be another time.
Amon: I understand.
Daos: We have Dual Blade. Cyan is nothing without it!

<Aguro awakens>

Aguro: What....what happened?

<Jerin also awakens. The two walk over to where Cyan lays>

Aguro: Are you alright, Cyan?

<Cyan slowly regains conciousness, and stands>

Cyan: I'm fine. Lufia? Jerin? Are you alright?
Jerin: Yes.

<Cyan looks around for Lufia>

Cyan: Lufia? Where's Lufia??
Aguro: She's gone!
Jerin: Cyan! The Dual Blade!
Cyan: Where is it? I can't find it! IT'S GONE!!
Aguro: Cyan. Can it be true?
Cyan: Don't say it, Aguro. Not a word! This can't be true!
Jerin: Cyan.

<We fade out to the Fortress of Doom, where Lufia/Erim walks up to the 
platform where Daos, Amon, and Gades await.>

Daos: Erim. Welcome, my sister.
Erim: I have the Dual Blade.
Daos: Good. Give it to me.
Erim: Why didn't you destroy me? I could have defeated you with this.
Daos: You wouldn't do that. You are Erim. You're one of us.
Erim: ........
Daos: Now. Give me the Dual Blade.

<Erim drops the Dual Blade on the ground between her, and Daos>

Daos: Wretched sword! Feel my wrath!

<An energy forms, and slowly closes in on the Dual Blade. It smashes 
into a thousand pieces.>

Daos: We are one. The world will once again be ours. The reign of Terror 
returns! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

<We return back to the Glasidar Tower, where our three heroes are still 
standing at the top. We get to see Doom Island slowly float off to the 
east.>

Aguro: Cyan! Doom Island is starting to move again!
Jerin: It's heading southeast.
Cyan: Come on! After it!

<They follow Doom Island in the Falcon, and eventually land on it. After 
walking north on the island for a little while, they come to a shrine, 
with an old man in it.>

Old Man: You're finally here. Close your eyes. Let me give you part of 
my power for the final battle.

<There are several flashes of light, and our heroes are cured>

Old Man: The final battle nears. Believe in yourself!

<The heroes exit the shrine, and go north along Doom Island until they 
reach the Fortress. Entering the Fortress, they slowly make their way to 
the top, where the shattered remains of the Dual Blade await.>

Jerin: Cyan! The Dual Blade!
Aguro: It's smashed into splinters!

<Slowly, Gades, Amon, and Daos warp in>

Cyan: Daos!
Daos: You cannot win without the Dual Blade.
Cyan: ........
Daos: Cyan. Why do you fight us?
Cyan: I want Lufia back.
Daos: Really? But does she want you? I wonder......

<Erim/Lufia teleports in, between Daos and Cyan.>

Cyan: Lufia.
Lufia: ........
Cyan: Lufia!

<Lufia walks to where Daos awaits>

Daos: There is your answer.
Lufia: ........
Cyan: LUFIAAA!!

<Something begins to ring>

Aguro: Wait! What's that sound?
Cyan: It's the Dual Blade!
Daos: Impossible! We destroyed it!
Aguro: It's flowing with Cyan's energy!

<An energy forms around the dual blade, and it reforms, and floats into 
Cyan's hand.>

Cyan: Dual Blade!
Jerin: Cyan!
Aguro: Cyan!
Cyan: Maxim. Thank you.

<They approach Gades, the first Sinistral>

Gades: So! The little knight has a little sword! But does he know how to 
play with it?

<A battle with Gades follows, which the three heroes win. They approach 
Amon, next>

Amon: Here is your reward for 99 years of grief!

<Amon and the party of three engage in a battle, which the party wins. 
Lastly, they approach Daos.>

Daos: Your energy flows just like Maxim's did. But can you wield the 
Dual Blade? Let us see!

<The fight with Daos ensues, and the party wins once again. After the 
fight, all the Sinistrals are behind Daos.>

Daos: This time I will finish what I started 99 years ago!

<All the Sinistrals begin to merge their energies, to become one>

Aguro: Four Sinistrals become one!
Jerin: How can this be possible?
Cyan: Lufia! Lufia!
Daos: The energy of the Dual Blade! It can't be!
Amon: Daos! Erim's energy is growing unstable!
Daos: Erim! My sister!
Erim: My....my head! Aaaah!

<Erim/Lufia breaks away from the other merging Sinistrals>

Cyan: Lufia!

<Cyan runs over to where Lufia is>

Cyan: Lufia! Can you hear me?
Lufia: Cyan?
Cyan: Do you know me?
Lufia: I remember....but, who am I?
Cyan: Good. Good!
Lufia: Cyan.
Aguro: Cyan, Lufia! Stand back! The Sinistrals are changing again!
Daos: Descendant of Maxim! Nothing will stand against me this time! Come 
to me! Meet the hideous destiney you so richly deserve!

<The party consisting of Cyan, Aguro, Jerin, and Lufia fight the final 
battle that decides all, against the evil "Guard Daos". After a long 
battle, our heroes emerge victorious>

Cyan: Lufia.

<Lufia walks in front of Cyan>

Cyan: Lufia?
Lufia: Hold the sword, Cyan.
Cyan: Lufia....Lufia. What....?
Lufia: 16 years ago, I was born as Lufia. But I was Erim long before 
that.
Cyan: I....I don't believe that!
Lufia: Just as the Sinistrals are your enemies, those with Maxim's blood 
are mine.
Cyan: How can we be enemies? The Sinistrals are my foes, not you.
Lufia: I am the Sinistral Erim. Even if you defeat Amon, Daos, and 
Gades....they'll return again as long as I live.
Cyan: ........!
Lufia: Finish this, Cyan.

<Lufia/Erim gathers her energy..., Cyan takes a step back>

Cyan: Lufia! Don't do this!

<Lufia/Erim's energy grows stronger, and faster...>

Lufia: Cyan. Destroy me!!

<The Dual Blade floats from Cyan's hand, and an energy begins to 
surround it>

Cyan: The Dual Blade?

<The energies of both the Dual Blade and Lufia/Erim increase, and they 
clash, sending everyone flying>

Cyan: Why did the Dual Blade go to Lufia? Where is she? I never wanted 
to fight her!

<Lufia speaks from across the crystal bridge>

Lufia: Cyan.

<Cyan goes running to her>

Cyan: Lufia!
Lufia: I was so scared. All the memories of Erim flooded into my mind! 
They just wouldn't stop! I started to forget about you, Cyan.
Cyan: That's why you disappeared in front of me?
Lufia: But....when you called my name, I realized....I remembered you, 
Cyan.
Cyan: Don't talk now.
Lufia: Cyan, it's alright. The Sinistrals are gone forever.
Cyan: Lufia! Hold on!
Lufia: Cyan. I was much happier in the short time I lived as Lufia than 
the eternity I spent as Erim.
Cyan: What are you talking about? We'll always be together.
Lufia: Cyan, I don't want to go, yet. I want to be close to you, Cyan.
Cyan: You won't die! I won't let you, Lufia!
Lufia: Really?
Cyan: Trust me!
Lufia: We'll always be together? For a long time? Good. Good......
Cyan: A long time, Lufia.
Lufia: ........
Cyan: Lufia?
Lufia: ........
Cyan: Lufia!

<Aguro and Jerin come running to where Lufia and Cyan are. Suddenly, as 
if in a chilling playback, the Fortress begins to shake once again, and 
the crystal bridge crubles. Lufia falls into the void underneath the 
bridge>

Cyan: Lufia!!

<Barely able to stop him from jumping after her, Aguro pulls Cyan back>

Aguro: Cyan! Doom Island! It's falling!
Jerin: Let's get out of here! It's too dangerous!
Aguro: Cyan! Come quickly!
Cyan: Lufia.
Aguro: What are you doing? Come on!

<We fade to Shaia Lab 4, where Professor Raile is standing. A lab 
assistant comes rushing downstairs>

Assistant: Professor! Doom Island is descending!
Raile: Is it trying to land somewhere?
Assistant: No! It's out of control! It's falling!
Raile: What? Falling? Wow! They did it!

<Another fade, this time to the Tower of Gloom. An old man comes running 
up to the top of the tower, where Flake is standing>

Old Man: Elder! Doom Island!
Flake: I know. I felt the energy vanish.
Old Man: You mean?
Flake: It's finished.
Old Man: At last!
Flake: The people of our world can live in peace and safety once more.
Old Man: Hurray!

<We fade once again, to Elfrea, where Artea is sitting>

Artea: It's finished.
Mirka: What's the matter, Artea?
Artea: My long battle is over at last. Finally, real peace will arrive! 
Guy. Maxim. Selan. ....All over. Everything is coming to an end.

<Next, we fade to where ? and her Uncle are standing, near Guy's 
gravesite>

Ainea: Uncle!
Uncle: I know.

<Ainea's Uncle walks up to Guy's gravesite>

Uncle: Everything is fine now, Guy. Rest in peace. Sleep well.

<Now we're back at the Fortress of Doom, still crumbling>

Aguro: Cyan! We're getting out of here!
Jerin: Cyan! Quickly!

<Our three heroes escape the crumbling fortress in the Falcon, and fly a 
ways out before landing. They exit the Falcon.>

Aguro: Whew! We escaped just in time!
Jerin: Any longer, and we would have disappeared with Doom Island!

<Cyan begins to walk away, with no apparent destination in mind>

Jerin: Cyan!
Aguro: Don't, Jerin. There's nothing you can say to Cyan right now.
Jerin: But....but!
Aguro: We defeated the Sinistrals. Our journey ends here. No one can 
stop Cyan.
Jerin: So, are we supposed to say goodbye now? Must it end this way? I 
can't.........

<Cyan walks further away....>

Jerin: Cyan....


--- One year later.... ---


<We reopen on the town of Lorbenia. Aguro is walking away from the 
Lorbenian Army's office>

Guard: Commander Aguro! Where are you going? We're training recruits 
today. You have to be there!
Aguro: I have something else to do. I leave the training to you. You can 
do it.
Guard: But! It's my first time! I can't....!
Aguro: Silence! Stop moaning! Just do it! That's an order!
Guard: Yes, sir!

<The guard takes off to wherever he needs to go, and Aguro walks to the 
docks, where Jerin is waiting>

Aguro: Sorry to be so long, Jerin.
Jerin: It's been a year. Hasn't it, Aguro?
Aguro: Yes.
Jerin: I wonder what happened to Cyan?
Aguro: I don't know. He's not in Alekia. I don't know where he is now, 
but....
Jerin: But what?
Aguro: I know I'll see him again. I just feel it.
Jerin: Yes. I feel the same thing. We'll see him again.
Aguro: A year has passed, Jerin. And there's something I want to tell 
you.
Jerin: What's going on, Aguro? It's not like you to be so serious.
Aguro: How long do you think you're going to stay in this town?
Jerin: What?
Aguro: What do you mean, "What?" A year ago, you said there was no place 
for you to go. So I brought you here. And yet, you've never looked for a 
new home.
Jerin: What are you saying? Am I bothering you?
Aguro: Yes. You're bothering me. Thanks to you, I can't even eat unless 
I serve in the army!
Jerin: Hey! I earn  my keep, don't I?
Aguro: It costs more than that when two people live together. I don't 
even have a girlfriend!

<Jerin looks away>

Jerin: You couldn't find a girlfriend even if I wasn't living with you!
Aguro: You weren't cute when I met you! One year later, you're still not 
cute!

<Jerin looks back at Aguro>

Jerin: I don't care if you think I'm cute or not!
Aguro: What an attitude! No wonder you can't find a new place to live!

<We fade out from the arguing couple, and fade back in to where Cyan has 
just entered a village>

Cyan: Arus village. Lufia's favourite flower, Priphea, was in full bloom 
then.

<Cyan walks to where the flower patch is, and sees Lufia!>

Cyan: ........!!

<Lufia walks up to Cyan>

Lufia: Hello. Are you a traveller?
Cyan: Yes. I'm Cyan. I've been travelling around the world for about a 
year now.
Lufia: Around the world? I envy you. I've never been far from the 
village.
Cyan: Excuse me, but may I ask you name?
Lufia: I'm Lufia. I live in this village with my grandfather.
Cyan: Lu...Lufia?
Lufia: Is there....is there something wrong with my name?
Cyan: No! No. Not at all.
Lufia: Oh, Grandpa!

<Lufia's "Grandfather" walks in from the north, he turns out to be 
Flake>

Lufia: Grandpa. This is Cyan. He's been travelling around the world.
Flake: Oh my! Welcome to our little village. We're simple people, but 
please enjoy your stay here.
Lufia: Say Grandpa. If it's alright, why don't we let him stay with us? 
I want to hear about the world outside this village.
Flake: Now, that's a good idea. What do you say, Cyan? Would you tell 
her some of your stories?
Cyan: Of course. I'd be happy to.
Lufia: Oh, thank you! I'll go and make some tea!

<Lufia rushes off north, to where a house lies>

Cyan: Tell me, Flake. Who is she?
Flake: That's Lufia.
Cyan: That can't be true! Lufia is....a year ago.... I....
Flake: We moved her to this village after her fall from Doom Island. She 
was weak, but she survived.
Cyan: So, you're saying that she's really Lufia?
Flake: Yes. She's Lufia alright. But she can't use magic now.
Cyan: What do you mean, she can't use magic?
Flake: She's just an ordinary girl now.
Cyan: But, why....?
Flake: Maybe because of the Dual Blade. Its great power affects people 
in different ways. The blade's energy changed Lufia. Her magic and her 
memory......all gone.
Cyan: Changed her? How can that be?
Flake: No doubt about it. When I found her, she couldn't even remember 
how to speak.
Cyan: Well, what about her memory now?
Flake: I taught her what she knows. Parts of that are just an illusion.
Cyan: I didn't know. But why do you want me to help Lufia so much?
Flake: I don't know. I just....

<The screen scrolls north a bit, where we can see Lufia waiting>

Lufia: Grandpa! Cyan! Tea's ready. Come inside and relax.
Flake: Oh, you made cinnamon tea. You usually don't make it. What 
changed your mind?
Lufia: Well, we have a guest and I thought it would be nice.
Flake: When my guests come, you make ordinary tea.
Lufia: That's not true! Sometimes I make it for your guests!
Flake: Ha! Ha! That's alright. My friends alone can't make you do this. 
I understand. But Cyan is your own age, Lufia. I know you'd want to do 
something special!
Lufia: What! Oh, you! How can you say that, Grandpa? Forgive us, Cyan. 
Just ignore him.
Flake: I see. So, Lufia. You're saying you don't like him?
Lufia: I never said that! Let's just have our tea, please.

<Lufia re-enters the house>

Cyan: It's Lufia. It's really her, isn't it?
Flake: Yes. But she's different from the Lufia you knew.
Cyan: I don't care! As long as she's alive.
Flake: Even without her memory? She doesn't even remember you.
Cyan: Memories...... That's alright. We'll make new memories.

<Lufia steps out of the house again>

Lufia: What are you two talking about? The tea's the getting cold. Come
inside quick!
Flake: Come. Come in, Cyan. Lufia's waiting.
Cyan: I'll be right there!

<Cyan walks up to Lufia, and the screen fades out>
